All i'm saying is they're not mutually exclusive so these threads are completely pointless.

I agree that they are not mutually exclusive. But some fans - not you! - simply think that we should go into every game with our first team and expect to win them all. That is not a realistic attitude.

We have limited resources and have to decide the best way to use them. Fans are desperately clinging onto the Europa League as the only possibility of success this season. But it's hard to see a team that struggles to win domestic games ultimately being successful in Europe.

And if this trend goes any further, it will put our place in the Premier League in jeopardy. I expect a victory this afternoon, but if we should lose then our priority will be to beat QPR.

Let's not downplay our resources. We've got squad players who are good enough to do a job for us if we can keep them all fit and involved. Think of the players who didn't start on Thursday. Stones is back, Lennon is back, Baines might be back. By the end of the month we could have Pienaar and McGeady back. There's Kone and Osman who came on as subs. There's Atsu who clearly deserves a couple of starts after his African exploits. Browning who was also on the bench could deputise for Coleman or Alcaraz. There's Gibbo and Besic, at least one of whom will start today. And there's Robles ...

It doesn't have to be all or nothing. By using the squad intelligently, doing just the right amount of rotation, we can give ourselves a chance of winning Thursday and Sunday games. Let's not trot out the excuses of why we can't succeed in both competitions before we've even given this a proper try.

If we had the quality we would have won the games already!!!!!:rant:
Yes, but I doubt we've had a four-game stretch so far that featured one already in the bag, two games against lower table teams, and the return leg against the team that you already have the women in the bag. My point being this team is good enough to beat these three teams in succession, let's just bloody do it.
