I don;t know if it has been mentioned before, and forgive me if it has but i was looking through todays threads and saw no mention of it.
In any event, supporters may well be fully aware but today is in fact, the 25th anniversary of the Watford FA cup final win.
Right now Kendall and his counterpart Taylor would be in the dressing rooms and getting ready for the off, and three hours from now Ratcliffe would be going up the steps to get that great trophy.
I can't believe 25 years have passed, that was a great time to be a Toffee, no-one had any idea that we would go on to greater things but this day we shall remember fondly as after a cautious start Sharp scored with that shot off the post and Gray made it two with a goal that may not have stood today.
Watford were a fine side, and Taylor has produced a quality line up with players such as Mo Johnston, John Barnes, and others I can't recall,
, but I think the keeper Sherwood may have been the weak link, a bit like the great Leeds team of the Revie era.
Who knows how many trophies the Elland road side would of won with a different goalkeeper.
Anyway, once again, time to look back, and remember when Everton were to embark on a fantastic three years spell, home and abroad, and maybe even this year we could see a repeat but it seems doubtful.
Elton weeping at abide with me sticks in my memory, and Alan Harper or Ratcliffe wearing some silly hat piece during the lap of honor also comes to mind. Had a marathon with Gillingham, a win at Notts County (Gray scores from a horizontal position), and that Heath goal at Highbury against Southampton, who would finish runners up to "them" in the old 1st division, so they were a fine outfit, unlike the current Saints team.
Also, Everton's first trophy for 14 years. Now there's a thought.
19th May 1984 Everton win the F.A cup.
