I don;t know if it has been mentioned before, and forgive me if it has but i was looking through todays threads and saw no mention of it.

In any event, supporters may well be fully aware but today is in fact, the 25th anniversary of the Watford FA cup final win.

Right now Kendall and his counterpart Taylor would be in the dressing rooms and getting ready for the off, and three hours from now Ratcliffe would be going up the steps to get that great trophy.

I can't believe 25 years have passed, that was a great time to be a Toffee, no-one had any idea that we would go on to greater things but this day we shall remember fondly as after a cautious start Sharp scored with that shot off the post and Gray made it two with a goal that may not have stood today.

Watford were a fine side, and Taylor has produced a quality line up with players such as Mo Johnston, John Barnes, and others I can't recall,, but I think the keeper Sherwood may have been the weak link, a bit like the great Leeds team of the Revie era.

Who knows how many trophies the Elland road side would of won with a different goalkeeper.

Anyway, once again, time to look back, and remember when Everton were to embark on a fantastic three years spell, home and abroad, and maybe even this year we could see a repeat but it seems doubtful.

Elton weeping at abide with me sticks in my memory, and Alan Harper or Ratcliffe wearing some silly hat piece during the lap of honor also comes to mind. Had a marathon with Gillingham, a win at Notts County (Gray scores from a horizontal position), and that Heath goal at Highbury against Southampton, who would finish runners up to "them" in the old 1st division, so they were a fine outfit, unlike the current Saints team.

Also, Everton's first trophy for 14 years. Now there's a thought.

19th May 1984 Everton win the F.A cup. :)

Good grief where did the time go. We talk about matches, but don't notice the time pass us by. I remember the day so clearly, but 25 years. Getting old here. Next thing you know England will be bidding to hold a World Cup in the year I retire, oh crap, they have. Damm.

Unfortunatly wasn't born at this stage :( but nevertheless i have the 84 Final on DVD .

I just wish i was old enough to see the players we had in the 80s. I was brought up with the sh*te sides of the 90s, bar the squad we had between 95-97.

Anyway, well done again to lads from 84 and here is hoping this year, we win the cup and it starts off a glorious chapter in our history

Look- they've kicked off now.

First few touches, Southall busy, Barnes proving dangerous, Watford on the attack..... etc etc.

Just a few weeks after the Milk Cup defeat to "them",although it was a fine goal from Souness that proved the difference.

Has Sharp scored yet.

And- team playing in blue beats another in yellow.

Maybe a sign of things to come.

It really does bring it all back.

Can’t remember them hitting the post, such along time ago, but it was a nervous first half. Andy Gray’s early second half goal made it a fantastic 2nd half atmosphere. For me the best day ever.

Remember the pre-match entertainment: Cheers for Freddie starr and abuse for Elton

Went to Wembley again that year to see Everton beat Liverpool 1 -0 in the charity shield. Loved the mid eighties: Everton playing everyone off the park, started a family and a great music era

I was going to do a "14 years on" new thread today, but it can come on here instead.

Everton have now won 2 Fa cups in 2 days you could say.

Funny really, no sooner had Ratcliffe finished lifting the FA cup, than Watson takes over the duties in next to no time.

Er, 20th May 1995. Everton win the FA cup.

I don't think Everton won an FA cup tomorrow so the players can have a rest.

Right now, in fact - they would be (with the omission of Southall), at the banquet in London, with the players and wives making good use of the drinks on offer, not knowing, that apart from a charity shield later that summer, the next decade would be pretty bleak at Goodison, but I'm sure they are (were) having a great time.

I think Watson took the cup to bed with him that night, a bit strange.
