86/87 that though lid, Ghost is talking about the originals.

as i said though, to finish so close to that r/s team and then beat them was a major achievement from the same era.

the day we won the league against qpr was unbelievable, i nearly didnt get in, they slammed the doors on the enclosure and i legged it round to the paddock, some arl fella grabbed me and shoved me in front of him in the queue, straight in and ended up standing on the end of 1 of the handrails that went up at the entrances, so i was on the same level as the first row of the seats, close to 1/2 way. the place was rammed to the rafters and the park end had that haze on it that it used to get when it was full. for the younger members, it's not poor film quality from yesteryear when you notice a haze, it was like that.
the only bugbear was the poxy trophy they gave us and not even on the day, we had to wait 'til 87 to get our hands on that.

It was the Today trophy or something wasn't it? [Poor language removed] it was anyway.

the achievement though lads.

Loved the boys singing E-V-E-R-T-O-N in the bath, and then Sheedy flings the soap to Gray just after he had just put it somewhere else.

Ghost, top post mate, that was a truly indomitable team. If the current lot could simply duplicate the confidence that bunch had, we'd probably be a lot higher in the table today.

The only surprise about that season was not winning the FA Cup, specially after Moran was sent off - after his tackle robbed us of rthe treble-winning goal, the sh!t.

i had my pic taken with it, the cup winners cup, and the charity shield.
serious scally backperm goin' on, 80's leather, burberry (non check) lambswool sweater, the cups were probably hiding some fantastic trainers, and some meff dropped somethin' an i looked over and the bloke took the pic, no joy on my face of any description whatsoever.

i think it was barclays, and we got a piece of glass with their logo, the league must have thought it was [Poor language removed] though cos we got the real one as well. the canon one fell to bits the night they got it apparently.

2001–2004: Barclayc ard (Barclayca rd Premiership)
2004–2007: Barclays (Barclays Premiership)
2007–present: Barclays (Barclays Premier League)

Cheers Ghost. I wasn't there every game in those days (or any days for that matter). Went to more matches in the late 70s and early 80s funnily enough. But that was a glorious time to be a blue. Was at the QPR game. Though I didn't think I'd get in at one point. Took my nephew to his first game against Luton two seasons later.
