And then there were two.

This is a David vs Goliath story with Croatia playing the David to France's Goliath. Love an underdog story.

France is as complete of a team at the tournament as there is. Croatia showed incredible resolve in the knockout rounds to achieve their first final.

Mbappe has shown the world what the hype is about. Incredible pace to go along with some brilliant footballing ability. Defensively they have been class. Once they got the lead on Belgium it looked like Belgium were never going to score.

Croatia have some incredible players as well, but I don't think even the staunchest Croatian wouldn't agree that they don't have the same quality top to bottom.

That's OK though. Cup finals are a bit of a lottery, getting the ticket is the key to winning. I think Croatia would prefer to be the underdog anyway.

It's been a cracking tournament so hopefully it will be a cracking final as well.

For the record I am fully backing Croatia...hard to not love the underdog.
 

Hmm, difficult one.

Would like Croatia to win as they've been phenomenal this tournament.

However, France winning seems to rankle a few and I think I may have to go with Les Bleus for the fume.
 

France are too good.

Griezmann is lush.
Giroud a trooper.
Mbappe plays like the old (Brazilian) Ronaldo.
Pogba's a strong presence.
Kante's the glue.
Pavard scored goal of the tournament.
Lloris a world-class keep.

All individually among the best in the world, and all 11 together an outstanding team: super-organised shape and hard workrate. Plus they've played much less football than Croatia, amounts to a full 90 minutes less plus they haven't had the stress of two penalty-shootouts.

Croatia are really good, and with Modric have at least one player who's on par with the best France have. But he's knackered. Mandzukic is knackered. Rakitic is knackered. Only their keep will feel relatively refreshed as England didn't make him work tonight.


Another 3-0 to France (like '98).
 

I was very bitter towards Croatia, after they beat Russia.But i've kind of warmed to them after earlier events.I hope they go all the way and win it now.
 
Think folks are writing Croatia off too soon here. Midfields are equal, and I doubt we'll see one side dominate the ball. Suspect it'll be a cagey first half as well. Wouldn't be surprised to see another 1-1 full time. It's what the Croats do.

Big difference for me is Mbappe. Croatia struggled badly with Sterling and Rashford's pace. He's probably got more pace and is a much better player.

Yeah, he’s a handful and then some. It’s part of the reason I think we’ll see a meh first half. Suspect the Croats will sit deeper to try and negate the influence of Griezmann and Mbappe and try to counter with some longer outlet balls to Rebic, Mandzukic, and Persisic. Who knows though. They might just trust their talent and go for it.
