Yep,typical of us,some things don't change eh?!!Jimmy Husband,my old fella always reckoned MacKay of Derby tried to finish him,Husband came back from the injury but was never quite the same player:(
He had a brilliant purple patch 1970-71 season but panathanaikos home saw him absolutely crocked early on. Pretty sure shankly helped them out with training facilities and "advice"!!! Puskas was their manager so I don't get too dewy eyed over him. He was deffo never the same after that. Was a very graceful player, sweet touch. Geordie too. The Everton fans gave him a fabulous we forgive you reception chanting his name in a home game vs Sunderland a few days later.
"We all agree, Goodison's better than Wembley!!!!" Would not leave the ground until the players came back for an ovation!!!! There are worse clubs than us to follow!! We genuinely do love our club more than winning itself. Still want to win like but it goes deeper than that.

Harry Catterick reading his autobiography banned cameras from most home games, and Bellefield they were allowed in the dressing room with the blues preparations as on the film shown - when Labby mentioned to Westy what the hell did HC change his mind for - Westy suggested a back hander may have been involved for the CAT from pathe news!
I did not realise the year we won the league in 1969/70 season the Catt refused certain games at home to be pot on MOTD! how times have changed!

We watched that final on two television sets in our basement flat in Finsbury Park. One had picture and no sound. The other had sound and no picture. One crazy day, that.

My Dad was in the squad from EFC that went down to London for the weekend.
One bonus of the trip was leaving your shoes outside your hotel bedroom and having them cleaned and polished with a newspaper put in on the morning of the game.

Always remember Danny Blanchflower doing a preview of the 1966 final on Sportsview a TV programme during the
week of that final , he finished at the end saying Everton for the cup ,Wednesday for the middle of the week, on the
day of the match there was a banner carried by Evertonians with those exact words on it.
