15 Years on, Germany 1, England 5

Let's face it- the more time that passes since 1966, the less that English football has to shout about. Personally, I don't think we've had anything whatsoever to shout about since Euro 96. Everything since then has been average at best and the 5-1 was of little or no consequence.

As somebody who's a neutral:

Here's how Germany fared in the WC since i started watching football:
-2nd in South Korea/Japan
-3rd in Germany
-4th in South Africa
-Won it in Brazil while thumping the home team 7-1

What i remember about England perfomances:
-Ronaldinho owning Seaman in 2002
-don't really remember them in '06 (going out by penalties?)
- 2010. That Green howler and a thumping in the 1/8 by guess who? Germany.
-Finishing 4th (?) in their group in Brazil.

My point us: why would someone even bring up some game that happened 15 years ago? Not something that an actual rival to Germany would do.

Annnnd 13 years later Germany won the World Cup after overhauling their entire footballing system.

2 years after that, England got knocked out of a Euros by Iceland.

Rather embarrassing all this. Seems theres only 3 great moments for the england national side - 66 World Cup. Gazza goal against Scotland. And this.
