Tbh there wasn't a kid on there that could defend, yeah he's got quick feet but lets see him against some decent defenders that will read him after he's done his shilly shallys a cpl of times and will take the ball off him with a thudding tackle, see how quick his feet are thenafter he's been left on the deck from a perfectly legal challenge.

Looks the sort of kid that virtually every team have training with them and thinks a game is the same as being in the playground, my bet is that every time he's tackled he goes down and spits the dummy out.

I thought exactly the same, synthetic pitch, no tackling, one trick........

We had 2 kids that were like that last season, our defenders could handle them as knew exactly what they were gonna do every time, in matches it came off cos opposition ones didnt but by the end of the season they werent getting it all their own way. 1 had all those tricks and the other had mastered the stuff they do in the skills schools and was like lightening, unfortunately he would when completely in the clear 'walk the dog, 'only thing that lad had over them was he passes.
The 2 lads in question are the ones that I mentioned that have moved over to the clubs other team, 2 divisions below where they'll be able to do their 'tricks' all day/season, and as a result my lads team has folded due to not enough players, so the ultimate act of being selfish and only being playing for themselves and none of their teammates.

We will draw them in the cup it's almost a guarantee, I doubt either will finish that game if it happens cos when tackled they stay down and the way they run means any challenge knocks them off balance. As well as that our kids can be vengeful little gets and we shan't be stopping them or instructing them to be otherwise.

Thats the type of kid that should be signed by our accademies.

Ferget this "tackling" bollox.

Touch and technique is the priority, and if someone at 8 - 11 shows that, they will be given academy / sat accad chances.

The game is moving away from crunching tackles. To disposes a player with the ball, you need to teach timing and anticipation, not strenght and couridge.

Thats part of the whole problem we have here. We would rather a kick & rush tough tacker come through, than a skillfull player like this kid.

Lads that can tackle will take it off him though, if he's in the way then it won't matter to them, you can't nick it off those types it's eye on the ball and take it under control yourself, he'd end up walking a dog thats run away or tangled in his own legs. As more and more kids are spending all of their time doing this then those that can tackle aren't phased by them at all.

Good coaching will help that, good coaching can help these kids with the decisions they are making.

You say it like these kids cant get any better. The skills they have are the base to work on. Thats the point.

A good tackler wont be given a 2nd look by any scouts, but add that to other aspects and you could have a good base of player.

Now at 8, 9 and 10. If a player shows great skill and touch, thats a great base to work on.

He's only 11 like. He can already do more than he should be able to at that age. He actually seemed to keep his head up well there and passed it when he needed to. I'm sure if defenders get hip to his game, if he's that talented, he'll raise his game as well.
