1000 Not Out
Here we go......................
It all began when aged about 4, just before we moved down to Rugby. My mum took me to a souvenir shop and I somehow managed to pick up a small Everton teddy. From then on Everton touched me and my life was never the same.
We left Kirkby around 1970 and it wasn’t till I was about 10 when I went to my first game. It was away at Coventry. We lost 3-2 and the pitch was half covered with snow. To me the players looked huge and the noise of that experience really had me hooked.
For the next few years, I managed to attend various away games, mostly with my Dad, who was a staunch Red, but never did he try to sway me to the dark-side. I hurt badly after the 1977 marathon with Villa in the league cup, also the Bryan Hamilton disallowed goal against the R.S.
I was, 15 when I went to my 1st game at Goodison (1981) we played Palace n won 5-0 Big Bob Latchford scored a hat trick. I was staying at my uncles at the time and I remember raiding his stash of beer…. I was so happy. Would it always be like this I was thinking? Cried with pride every time we won the league or a cup was raised by Ratty during the 80’s.
So I have witnessed the frustration of the late 70’s, the glory of the 80’s, the dark days of the 90’s and now the optimism of the 00’s.
Now 39 years later after having been tattooed with the club badge, shed more tears than you could ever imagine, cheered myself hoarse and experienced so many highs and lows following my beloved Everton, I can safely say that long with my. Family, Everton has had a profound influence on my life, both financially and emotionally.
Now that is a brief outline of my history of my time as a supporter of Everton. My devotion to the club has never wavered, even though marriage and kids held back. My physical attendance at games.
Thank-you Everton for 39 years of thrills spills laughs and tears.
Thanks to anyone who bothers to read that, thanks to GOT admin and members for a great few months on this forum.....COYB
