10 most overrated footballers

10. Only 'cause of the sheer amount of money involved in the move means he could be overrated, he was excellent this season for Newcastle.
9. Find me one person that rates Peter Crouch in the first place?
8. Again, is this article based on how much money their transfer cost? Most people would not rate Jones in a month of Sundays, he's far too average.
7. Carrick hasn't put in a good shift for United since about 2007.
6. Gabbie A-bonedyermar!! Don't know about this one actually, he seems to pop up and hurt us frequently, so i'll reserve judgement, his so-called decline has been well spoke about by Houlier though, so is he really rated anyway?
5. YES!! One I finally agree on!! His game has come on for me but little Theo just doesn't have a footballing brain, pace is useless if you can't do much else with a ball at your feet i.e James Vaughan.
4. The only person outside of Everton that rated Lescott seemed to be Mark Hughes, fabulous with Jagielka for us though.
3. He's not really rated now is he? Especially since Liverpool has exposed him as a thoroughly average player.
2. A lot of my friends and colleagues rate SWP, I however do not, agreed.
1. Agreed, he's not really that highly thought of is he really? But I am amazed at how consistently gash he is.

Granted, I do not watch much international/foreign footy, but for me the most overrated player out there is Kaka.

I wouldn't say any of those players are overrated. None of them are being made out to be anything more than they are, thus they aren't overrated, at least not in my eyes.

If he is, its outside Manchester United because i've not met one fan yet who would have him anywhere near the first team.

10.) Andy Carroll - Agree. Good player and prospect, but he's very limited and really would have been best suited to football 10 years ago or for a team like Stoke. £35 million? Well, I have one reaction to that: HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

9.) Crouch - Kind of disagree. I think he's pretty good to be fair. He used to be pants, but his feet are good and he's improved his heading ability immensely.

8.) Jones - Kind of agree. He's good on his day, but it's not his day often. However I fail to see how he's overrated... I don't remember anyone ever really singing his praises.

7.) Michael Carrick - OMFG YES I AGREE. I cannot fathom how he's such a United regular. He's so limited, prone to mistakes and about as average a player as you can get.

6.) Agbonlahor - Agree. I always thought he was pretty good, but his scoring record is pretty piss poor. He's got pace, but unlike Ashley "megasnide" Young, he doesn't have the ability.

5.) Walcott - Kind of disagree. I think he's been slow to progress, but he's definitely progressing. He's got pace, and now a good shot. If his delivery ever becomes any good he'll be one of the best wingers in the world. He's still only young, so it's still a tad premature to write him off, for me.

4.) Lescott - Kind of agree. His goalscoring was a misnomer, as I've said on here a lot. But he is versatile, smart and quick. He's never settled at city, but for us he was immense. However he was always always outshone by Jags, and this season Distin's made us all forget he ever played for us.

3.) Joe Cole - Agree, nowadays. £120K a week, is it? He's a "free" transfer in the same way you get a "free" phone with a 24 month, £50 quid a month phone contract. Except that phone only has a few working keys. And a cracked screen. And a 2 hour battery life.

2.) SWP - Completely agree. I've said it before and I'll say it again: he's the epitome of average.

1.) Barry - " "

They aren't overrated. Other than idiot England managers who actually thinks any of these players are any good?

Robin Van Persie maybe?

Massively overrated imo.

Come on - he's one of the best strikers in the world - if he can avoid injuries (which he can't).

Seems to me that a year ago we'd have all agreed with Berbatov being on this list - what a difference year makes...

Gareth Barry without doubt. Probably a lot of England players to be fair. Totti was/is a player I've never really got the fuss about. Balotelli is another. I'd add Emile Heskey as well. He's been sold for fees of £23.5m down the years with over 50 England caps, yet he's bloody awful. Sod 'bringing other players' into play, a striker should score. Heskey doesn't. Ever.
