£100 Million

Probably needs to spend that amount every season for the next 5 years.

Can't see much of this squad left by the time we move to a new stadium.

Is it sensible to presume that Moshiris cash injection of £100 million is a one off deal. He is unlikely to repeat this season after season, even as a billionnaire it's a sure way to burn through cash and FFP rules would get in the way.

So by bringing in Walsh is he basically briefing the management team to spend wisely and make this money count. No use spending on players where we can't recoup any value but do it right and we will eventually increase the calibre and value of our squad.

Value has been short at hand in this window, so we may be having to accept it will take a little longer. Blowing it all on a marquee signing or two could spell long term disaster.

Whilst this is frustrating it may well be commercially prudent.

It's likely to have been discussed ad nauseum in other threads mate, but because of the restrictions in increasing the wage bill just by chucking money at it, the chances are the plan involves a combination of :-

  • Profits from player trading ( eg Stones sale ) and
  • Increasing commercial, non-TV revenue ( eg Hopefully a much improved shirt sponsor deal next summer )

Announcing we had £100 mill to spend on players always struck me as a stupid thing to do. It is like telling the selling club to add a few million on to the price.

Can you find us a quote where he had announced it mate?

There isn't a single quote from moshiri saying there is a £100m. All he has said was we will sort the gronud and we will invest in the team.
