    Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

Has Chuck ever put together a run of first team games? Big upside based on his potential but slight worry about him being ready to come in and play every game. Guess that's the same for anyone being let go in January except someone moving up from the championship.

    Everton Manager Net Spend

Koeman was bad. But if there was the points overlaid I wonder if Lampard could be worse still?

    Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

Attack minded RB and a creative midfielder priorities for me. A striker would help too but we'd be very lucky to find anyone who would actually be a 'goalscorer' fornour budget so I think creating more chances is a bigger priority.

    2024/25 David Moyes

Wonder if were getting a bit bogged down in his tendancy to play down expectations last time? Personally I always thought he did this because even our best teams in his previous era tended to do better with less pressure. There's plenty of other successful managers taken a similar approach over...

    The return of David Moyes

I'm going to choose to remember that last time around Moyes gave me several seasons of watching Leighton Baines and Steven Pienaar play together, which by some distance is the best football I've seen us play.

New Everton Owners: The Friedkin Group

Expect we needed another loan and the only way to get that was to agree a sale. Can think of reasons why either party would want to wait to complete until end of season. Hopefully TFG deep enough in now that it's in their interest to keep us out of administration.

    2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

I get why the media are jumping on the Everton in free fall narrative, it's something to talk about. But we know this is how it's been under Dyche, runs of bad form, runs of good form. Just because we've started terribly doesn't mean we won't get it together. We certainly aren't playing this...

New Everton Owners: The Friedkin Group

Does Moshiri actually want to sell yet?? Or is he just stringing buyers on, getting them to front operating costs with 'investment' (so he doesn't have to) and then converting them to loans when he doesn't come through? It seems far fetched that serious business people would keep being taken...

    6 + 2 Point Deductions

If we are looking to keep the league competitive I'm convinced that limiting match day squad size to 15 and going back to 3 subs per game would dramatically improve things. Go back to a senior squad limit of 22 as well but unlimited u21s. None of the opportunity for 'interpreting' the rules...

New league. What does it look like? Ideas, please.

The biggest change I would make in a new league is to limit squad sizes to something like 20 (except for academy players) but more importantly limit match day squads to 15 with only 3 subs allowed per game. If that happened there might not even be the need for a salary cap or similar because...

    VAR

There was a lot of support for video referees before it was introduced but having actually had it in practice I think everyone now realises it's causing more issues than it solves. There's a whole swathe of unexpected/unintended consequences. For starters we know now that most of the rules...

777 Partners / Whatever the hell you like

Player values are potentially so high these days. Are there any commercial deals that could be more profitable than buying a player for 10m (or even better zero) and selling him for 50m?

    6 + 2 Point Deductions

With a new stadium on the horizon we are potentially only a few transfer windows of shrewd/lucky business away from being a club who might conceivably get in and around the European places. It's not entirely surprising the Premier league, which let's not forget is just the other premier league...

Fair play to silva there - looks to have done by far the best job of keeping goals for xg above goals against xg over a decent consistant stretch.

If the appeal gets rejected is this something we can take to CAS as City did a few years back? They would actually be independent.

777 Partners / Whatever the hell you like

I don't think he's wrong, but also I don't think this is something that anyone can change. It's a fact when you're managing a fallen giant. The only reason there aren't many parallels is that there aren't many (any?) clubs that have been as successful as Everton during the pre-premier league...

    News of Ex Players

Big call, but if it wasn't for Gylfi's stupid bit behaviour we would be in a far better state today. Left a huge whole creatively and everything on the pitch spiralled from that. Rarely gets mentioned for obvious reasons. I imagine the takeover options would look a lot better if we'd been a mid...

777 Partners / Whatever the hell you like

I don't know how these things work, but is there any way the £20m could find its way to Moshiri personally, with an agreement to convert it to shares when full buyout was agreed? A downpayment on the full buyout if you will? The guy seems absolutely desperate for money. Given that 777 are likely...

    2023/24 Sean Dyche

There's no doubt he been dealt a very difficult hand but he really does need to get a win soon. Something I've thought since he came in is that we've got a different Sean Dyche to the one that managed Burnley. He'd established himself there, grown in self confidence and felt appreciated, rated...
