The curse of strength in depth?

We could all probably name the preferred XI for Leicester and Spurs. Chelsea hardly rotated at all last year. And, under Moyes, a largely-settled side performed above expectations. With Baines admitting that the team chemistry isn't "quite there", perhaps Roberto has too many options? Maybe...

Roberto Martinez Discussion - Including Live Poll (Poll Reset 1st May)

The Everton board are secretive at the best of times and even if they did explain it to us, I'm sure that high-end business and finance is very confusing. We can only ever make guesses based on a little bit of knowledge which may or may not be factually accurate.

Roberto Martinez Discussion - Including Live Poll (Poll Reset 1st May)

I haven't put anyone down. The Moshiri thread is conjecture. I'm sure that he does have every intention to buy the club outright but there will only be a handful of people who know what's actually going on and they're hardly likely to tell the rest of the world unless it suits them.

Nothing wrong with that. The agreements at Everton won't be public knowledge. Officially the club acknowledged that Moshiri had bought a 49.9% stake but they didn't divulge any more than that. We can't know any contractual details or any verbal agreements between the parties.

Damn! Bill said I'd get away with it!

I wasn't building a case. I was just getting myself up to speed and showing my workings out.

From what we've heard Roberto's vision for the team, once the old guard hang up their boots is something like this: Joel Coleman Stones Funes Mori Galloway Besic McCarthy Deulofeu Barkley Yarmolenko Lukaku We'll also probably see players like McAleny and Dowell breaking through. Michael Ball...

Roberto Martinez Discussion - Including Live Poll (Poll Reset 1st May)

I'd have thought that, if he wanted to buy the club outright he'd settle the loans. What's £31.3m to a billionaire? What's your source?

Roberto Martinez Discussion - Including Live Poll (Poll Reset 1st May)

I think Bill is too wiley to leave himself in a position where he's only getting half the cash upfront AND it only takes a couple of disgruntled shareholders to vote against him for him to have lost control of the club. Not that I think that Moshiri would have anything underhand up his sleeve.

Roberto Martinez Discussion - Including Live Poll (Poll Reset 1st May)

I'm sure that none of us really knows the ins and outs of this because it wouldn't be publicly disclosed. According to Toffeeweb... Moshiri 17,465 (49.9%) Kenwright 4256 Woods 3116 Grantchester 2773 Carter 714 Other 6676 Total 35,000 Surely keeping Moshiri in the minority is a safety...

Why has he bought such a specific stake then? Who is going to side with him rather than voting with Bill?

Roberto Martinez Discussion - Including Live Poll (Poll Reset 1st May)

He will only take control if he finds willing sellers. He's on probation until the the old guard decide that he's the right custodian for the club. If it was for any other reason he could have bought a greater or a lesser stake.

Roberto Martinez Discussion - Including Live Poll (Poll Reset 1st May)

It was set at 49% (49.9% according to Wiki) deliberately so that the existing shareholders retain a majority interest. I'd imagine that Lord Grantchester has a passive interest in the club these days, as he left the board in 2000. He has a net worth of £1200m and could easily have bought...

Moshiri could afford to buy us outright but he hasn't been allowed to..yet. I'm sure that the new investor will defer to Bill's experience and, if he doesn't, they could simply outvote him anyway.

Remember Moyes' transfer dealings at United. And if the new owner is going to splash the cash he's presumably going to want to see attractive football. Davey couldn't do that with a team containing Rooney, Di Maria and Van Persie. Arsenal fans are calling for Wenger's head but he delivers...

Bill is the chairman still and he still has the controlling interest with his mates. Moshiri isn't even on the board and will be represented by a proxy.

Roberto Martinez Discussion - Including Live Poll (Poll Reset 1st May)

Why would Bill trust his club to a foreign manager that he has no relationship with when one of his close friends, who knows the club inside out is available? He'll argue that Davey is a better manager for his time at United and Sociedad and that we can now give him the funds that were denied...

Roberto Martinez Discussion - Including Live Poll (Poll Reset 1st May)

Under Moyes Jagielka would boot the ball up the field and the lone striker had to chase lost causes. We're much more entertaining under Roberto. How many neutrals have said that they enjoy watching Everton play? We're just not clinical enough.
