People whinged for weeks for Lindstrom to start “he has to be better than what we have”. No, he isn’t. We have no quality in wide areas and a gaping hole in midfield. Championship level in 6-8 positions.

It’s not been much better with Iroebugnam, Garner or Gana. It’s been a problem all season.

As unappetising it is to watch, I’d rather keep the faith with the bloke who led us out of this same hole last season than take a chance on somebody who will come in and spend several months drawing the same conclusions as Dyche and the rest of us have now; the players are just not very good.

If we’re going to criticise him for his playing style and the manner of defeats this season (which is absolutely fair, it’s been awful) then it’s appropriate to balance that with credit for producing an excellent defensive record across a 38 game season in really tough circumstances. With a...
