The Now-Irrelevant 2024/25 Relegation Battle (Without Everton!)

For many clubs yes, but the powers that be seem to extend the benefit of the doubt more than most regarding players and managers here. I don’t think the Forest game would be the end for him, but a run of losses including against Forest would have his card marked.

The Now-Irrelevant 2024/25 Relegation Battle (Without Everton!)

I don’t see any circumstances that Dyche will be sacked after the Arsenal game unfortunately. The Wolves result has bought him until at least mid January given that losses in the next games can be passed off as ones that we are expected to lose in any case. Purely from this perspective, a...

The Now-Irrelevant 2024/25 Relegation Battle (Without Everton!)

Another thing that people often gloss over is that many of the “surprise” wins/points we got from the likes of RS/Chelsea/Newcastle/Spurs were during by far their worst form of the season. We actually got very lucky with our schedule last year as we played a lot of teams at the best possible...

The Now-Irrelevant 2024/25 Relegation Battle (Without Everton!)

Actually we could be second from bottom in theory as Crystal Palace would also overtake us on goal difference if they won

Especially when 3 of those 5 points came from us :dodgy:

Oh I know not everyone is, but some of the comments from others above really suggest otherwise (eg 30 points and we’ll be safe)

The Now-Irrelevant 2024/25 Relegation Battle (Without Everton!)

Should be noted that the clubs at the bottom have more points than they did already at this point last season. 9 points and you could be in 15th after 12 games last year. I wouldn’t be confident surviving with only 30/32 points based on the season so far. Ipswich are still a strange one for me...

Match Thread Everton 2-3 AFC Bournemouth (Sat 31 Aug 3:00 PM)

It was a pretty good performance for 80 minutes yesterday, but wary of reading too much into that as Bournemouth were truly shocking and didn’t look much better than Doncaster at times. Some of their misplaced passes were comical. I can only assume it was poor by their normal standards.

    We're going down aren't we?

Same fixtures last season had the following results: Everton 1 - 1 Brighton Tottenham 2 - 1 Everton Everton 3 - 0 Bournemouth So we’re already 4 points down on these fixtures from last year, not to mention -10 goal difference. Difficult to spin this positively

The Now-Irrelevant 2024/25 Relegation Battle (Without Everton!)

I also think many people are too quick to compare Ipswich to Luton. The only similarity is that it had been a long time since being in the top tier and they weren’t necessarily expected to be promoted when they were (although Ipswich were tipped for playoffs by many in preseason) However...

The Now-Irrelevant 2024/25 Relegation Battle (Without Everton!)

I think a big difference with Burnley is that Southampton are more ruthless and unlikely to stick with the manager if he doesn’t produce. Southampton see themselves as a team, rightly or wrongly, that should be in the top tier, while Burnley acted like they were eternally grateful to Kompany...

The Now-Irrelevant 2024/25 Relegation Battle (Without Everton!)

Still difficult to say with the new sides as it does take time to bed in, especially with lots of new players. Ipswich were never getting anything from Man City and Liverpool, just like 2/3 of the league wouldn’t, so a bit unfair to judge there. I am getting more Forest / Bournemouth vibes from...
