Think that’s more of a negotiation tactic to be honest. I doubt he would turn down a 3 year deal, just doesn’t want another short term contract like his first West Ham audition.

Big headache for the new owners I think. I can see why they would like to come in with their man as soon as the takeover is completed, but also don’t want to shake things up too much mid season. There is no way to justify extending his contract beyond this season if TFG has any ambition though.
