4-0! My first game

The last home game before I started going to the match - West Ham were next and we beat them 4-0. What a start to watching the blues!

I remember being in the Goodison Rd terrace at the last game of the 68-69 season. As soon as the final whistle went there was an army of people ripping the seats out ready for the partial demolition over the close season, and the construction of the present main stand

It was Goodison Road towards the Street end. Just where the cut in bit is now at the side of the church.

I used to go in there as a kid in the sixties, but I can't remember it being called the Church End. I do remember the price - 6/- ! My Dad must have been loaded - the Street end was only 5/-

This is when GL won a gallon of scotch for manager of the month. As a non drinker, he asked for it in miniatures and gave them away to fans. Nice gesture.

Ordered it directly from Steve, delivered two days later - great service, and a great book. Really enjoying it, so many players that I have cheered on from the terraces, along with some who only played a handful of games, but have just as much passion for the club. Thanks Steve for such a good read.

The tunnel used to be offset - nearer to the Park End than Gwladys. You can just see it to the left of the "B"

That looks more like the Goodison Road side - Bullens has never had the decoration on the roof, and it looks like the directors box underneath it

A bit unfair on David Smallman. He was a youngster who we snapped up. He was coming along nicely and then had a really bad injury. Lost his pace and was never the same exciting forward that we first bought in to.

Been at a couple of Q&A evenings with him. He always seems grounded and able to explain his role within the club. We have a future manager here, whether he needs to go external before managing Everton is a matter for the future, let's just concentrate on supporting him in his present role for now.

The first game at Palace was brutal. They had their centre forward, Gerry Queen. sent off after a huge scuffle. Headline in the paper the next day was "Queen in brawl at Palace"!
