    Newcastle Watch

I am not deluded, really. We are up there in the list of most successful clubs (4 league wins and 6 FA Cups) but it's all from so long ago. I agree we are at home in both divisions. That has been the case for our entire history. We honestly don't take Premier League status for granted. When I...

    Newcastle vs Middlesbrough

I don't understand this hostility against Newcastle United. I remember when we were everyone's second favourite team. It seems that the media has created this weird profile of a supposed Newcastle fan who is a glory hunter and wants instant success. This is a bizarre idea. Out of all of my...

    Newcastle vs Middlesbrough

I'm obviously happy with this morning's result, but I don't think it's over. We must now beat Fulham and probably need a draw at Villa. Meanwhile Hull should get a point at Bolton, and could easily beat Man United at home, as United will probably be champions by then, and will be 3 days away...

FA Cup Final Thread - Tickets/Travel/Meet Ups Etc

Excellent flag. Remember the days when Cup Final crowds had huge flags and banners. It looked great on TV, but not so good for fans if it was blocking your view of the pitch!

On This Day Five Years Ago...

That was only 4 years ago. I knew it couldn't have been 5 years, because Cahill was playing for Millwall in the Cup Final in May 2004, in the 3-0 defeat by Man United.

Time for an EPL salary cap???

I like the idea because to me, it's ridiculous that people talk about "the race for 4th place", or that the relegation battle is more exciting than the Championship race. That is crazy. Of course, it's true but it shouldn't be the case. Look at the last 10 winners of the Premier League - Man...

FA Cup Final Thread - Tickets/Travel/Meet Ups Etc

I always remember Everton's singles in 1985 (Here we go) and 1995 (All together now with the Farm). Meanwhile Chelsea had a relatively busy time in the 90's with Top 40 singles in 1994, 1997 (Blue Day, with Suggs) and 2000. Manchester United had a Number one hit in 1994 "Come on you reds"...

Time for an EPL salary cap???

Yes, it's a nice idea, but hard to implement, as already mentioned, and also the fact that it would have to be UEFA-wide. I also like the maximunm foreigner rule which will come into European games but should be implemented for all leagues too.

He's going to get a hefty ban, but I think it will only be European games. But I don't want Chelsea to behave like that in the FA Cup Final.

Time for an EPL salary cap???

In Australian sports, in particular Rugby League (big in Sydney), Aussie Rules Football (big in Melbourne) and Rugby Union, the major league in each sport enforces a salary cap on each team. This means that you can’t buy success, like Chelsea. You have to keep the wages under a certain level...

    BLACK NETS

Yeah, that is right. Also Stamford Bridge also had the biggest space behind the goals. There was almost room for another pitch behind them. Now, it's alot more enclosed.

    Newcastle Watch

Like I said, most of us are not deluded. We just want to see Newcastle win the Carling Cup. One day. I was against Keegan being brought back last year. I wanted Deschamps. I always wanted Newcastle to bite the bullet and get a quality foreign coach who could get the team playing technically...

Poll for the best 10 club teams in history, besides Everton:

Indeed. Of course, I am far too young to have seen them live, but the videos are enough to show how great they were.

    Champions League 2008/2009

Yes , they could be more determined about the Cup Final, but that is probably a good thing, both for the neutral and for Everton. If they come out and play, there could be gaps in their defence for Everton to exploit. I hope there is an early goal by Everton to open the game up.

FA Cup Final Thread - Tickets/Travel/Meet Ups Etc

Interesting developments - could players be banned from domestic games as well as in Europe? I can see Drogba and Ballack being punished but assumed it would only count in next season's Champions League. Does anyone think they might have to sit out the rest of the season including the Cup Final?

    The State of the game

I agree with your Dad. In fact, it's pretty bad that Everton fans cannot hope to be Champions at the beginning of a particular season. Maybe it's time for a salary cap, as they have in Australian Rugby League and Aussie Rules meaning you can't buy success, and it makes the competition more even...

    Your first match

What a game, and what a team. That pass from Bracewell was a volley from his own half, without looking. He just knew that Steven would be onto it. He then cut inside and buried it into the top corner. Andy Gray's diving header was the ultimate "bullet header". Typical Gray, it was only about 6...

    Anders Limpar Interview

Great to hear from Anders. He started the move for the goal in the final in 1995, too.
