It must have been the holiday before that , that I was thinking about - still it;'s good to hear that you are getting out and about. You may think that this dog walking thing is a bit of a bind - but I find it's like pushing a pram- everyone stops and has a look and a talk about the baby (dog)...

Last time I looked in you were going on holiday somewhere or other - now you are finding it hard to find somewhere to go. What was the holiday like - was it beneficial? This dog walking stuff really isn't working is it, any merit in getting another few dogs in the locality together and starting...

wbn61 -I haven't been on here since I was admonished for a 'flippant' remark, however I am pleased that you are 'on the mend' and contemplating a holiday. Insurance costs are a swine when they start loading the premiums BUT unless you have somewhere specific you really want to visit why go...

Great to hear that you managed to get out and stayed off the pop. Exercise is good - but over doing it and tiredness will get you back down in the dumps. Stick with it this 'thing' takes a lot of understanding and it sounds as though you are on the right track.

'wife is having a hard time which I understand but hate her taking it out on me all the time.' Despite all the advice you are able to glean from these boards you will probably find that the best one to help you IS your wife. From what you say SHE is probably having a worse time of it than you -...

Not directed at anyone in particular but it seems that forums such these do a lot of good but only so much the rest is up to the individual. The above comment is one that is frequently heard/seen and in itself makes depressing reading - (nothing better to do) - what a pity.

That description is spot on Bryan. It's as if your mood swing, like a wave, was up and down but with the AD it just takes the highs and lows out and gives a more level 'playing field'. Feeling numb may be an over exaggeration but I know what you mean - sex drive included!

'anti-depressants are not dangerous when taken as recommended and are not addictive' The same as any medication, if taken correctly under proper supervision, they are not dangerous. Why would they be prescribed if they were? As for not being addictive I wish to disagree - in my experience most...

Sorry I missed your last post wbn61 when you said 'hence feeling false' !!!! Bollocks - no such things as feeling false, for whatever reason, you are depressed - only difference is you will get over it as you progress. Cheers.

wbn61 - I had also meant to say that depression or not, not one of us would wish to change places with you. You sound like a very brave and positive person and I am sure you will fight and get through it. Keep your pecker up.

wbn61 - Very sorry to learn about your cancer -you have obviously had/ are having a bad time. It appears, from what you say, that your perceived depression may well result from your cancer illness and treatment and I am pretty sure that having undergone all that it would be enough to make...

wbn61 - that is a major plus in this illness - talking to people openly about your problem. It is not easy and you must decide who to confide in - not everyone will understand or be supportive but gradually you will find it easier to speak out about your/our problem. There is no longer a stigma...

Depression? What depression? That had always been my attitude to other people's woes- and then it hit me. It was like being poleaxed with a baseball bat on the back of the head and I was in bed for a fortnight crying like a baby. My wife was brilliant - she understood straight away and had...
