Would it get worse without Dyche?

Allardyce had a better squad at his disposal though, wouldn't you say?

Would it get worse without Dyche?

Nope, because they are taking £80k per week each and giving nothing in return. Get rid of both at the first opportunity and trim the wage bill.

Would it get worse without Dyche?

If those eight points hadn't been deducted, this conversation wouldn't even be happening. We'd be in 14th place, on 35 points, with seven games left to play. Now it's very correct to point out we AREN'T in that position, because the points HAVE been deducted. But the points deduction is not...

    Summer 2024 transfer thread.

I do see your point and generally the maths works. I don't agree however that just because we've only used a core of 17 players this year that we should be aiming to have a small squad in future. Obviously there has to be a balancing act though - no point padding out the squad with older players...

    Summer 2024 transfer thread.

I can see why people roll their eyes about this plan - the likelihood of getting all of these transfers done within our financial constraints is close to zero. I do agree with Zat's general concept though. We have too many players on huge wages who make marginal contributions at most, and the...

Match Thread AFC Bournemouth v Everton - Waffle, Match Report, MotM Poll and more waffle

The remaining fixtures include every team currently below us in the table so there's every chance of staying up. A win at Bournemouth isn't VITAL, but it would certainly be a very welcome boost to morale. 2-1 to us. Doucs and DCL to score.

    2023/24 Dele

He's done nothing to suggest that in the last three years. The best ability is availability, and this lad is unwilling/ unable to play. He's not available. We pay him £100k per week and he doesn't want to play. We simply cannot pay another penny to him just on the basis of HOPING he might...

    2023/24 Dele

Au contraire. A few minutes digging through his stats on Transfermarkt indicates he hasn't performed as a footballer since 2020. 19/20 (Spurs) 38 appearances 9 goals 6 assists 2772 minutes 20/21 (Spurs) 29 apps 3 g 5a 1355 mins - managed a full 90 mins ONCE in 29 games. 21/22 (Spurs) 18 apps...

He's had a few million in wages. That's too much by itself.

    2023/24 Dele

This thread is simply incredible. How on Earth could anyone possibly even contemplate offering Dele Alli a new contract? The sooner his contract expires, the sooner we stop paying £100k per week to someone who doesn't want to play football.

    Excellent point, well made.

Are you a still a football fan or solely an Evertonian these days?

I've played both. Liked them both, for different reasons. From a spectator point of view, both are far better 'products'.

I'm solely an Evertonian. I don't watch any other football. Vastly prefer rugby and NFL.

Match Thread Brighton & Hove Albion v Everton - Team Prediction, Waffle, Match Report & MotM Poll

I was sat amongst the home fans. Far end of the East stand, next to the away end. The Brighton fans were mostly silent for the entire game. Only noise they ever made was when Dunk scored the equaliser.

Where have you seen any debate? He clearly won't ever play for us again - he probably won't play another professional game in his life.

100% agree with this. Add the DCL chance at the end of the first half to that list too. Brighton were lucky today. Ref gave them a lot of decisions and they rarely threatened.

Match Thread Brighton & Hove Albion v Everton - Team Prediction, Waffle, Match Report & MotM Poll

Yes that's correct. My point is however that Dyche is not the problem: the ten points deduction is. Based on what he's achieved thus far I am confident Dyche will keep us up. It will be tight, but ONLY because of aforesaid points deduction.

And that approach gets a win today, even with the bulk of the decisions going against us, unless the ref inexplicably plays NINE minutes of added time. Dyche is a pragmatist, and that's what we need to avoid relegation.

Match Thread Brighton & Hove Albion v Everton - Team Prediction, Waffle, Match Report & MotM Poll

If not for the points deduction we start today in 12th place and get a point away to a team in 7th. No-one would grumble about that. Yes we need wins, but Dyche is NOT the issue here. We're safely mid-table under him but for the Prem being corrupt. The proof of that was clear today: Brighton...
