Discussion & help on depression & mental health related issues

Thanks to everyone for your constructive replies and advice. I still don't know what to do re Brussels... I still don't want to but I'm aware I'm isolating myself. I'll probably get out and do other things here... I don't really isolate myself here from everyday life. I go to uni, I work as a...

Feeling awful recently. Probably the past few weeks/month. I just feel numb to a lot now... Resigning myself to just feeling disappointment forever. Falling out with family and isolating myself from them. I feel lonely but at the same time, I want to push people away. I'm fed up of talking about...

Can you ever focus on the positives like the things going for you or does negativity take over? I have trouble myself with that. I always find the negative and approach things with skepticism etc. You saying it's all down to how you are as a person is a lot of pressure to put on yourself...

Do you ever have times of feeling brighter and has the counselling ever worked? Maybe you could try a different counsellor/different method of treatment?

Another case of the Saturday blues! Hoping Everton can make things a lot better :) not sure what it is really.. just a niggling feeling of sadness under everything that I am trying to keep myself busy with! I had this last Saturday when I was sat there thinking 'well what now?'. It's similar but...

Good luck with this :) if he's a good friend then he will listen to you and let you express your feelings without you feeling stupid. I have my fingers crossed this will happen so you can get a bit more support. Every little helps!

Two downhearted Evertonians meeting on the Internet via a depression/anxiety thread. What could possibly go wrong? :)

Not sure what's happened with you but if your friends have given up on you then maybe you should think twice about how much of a friend to you they really are. In my opinion, a good friend is one that can go for weeks/months/years without seeing you but still provide the level of support that...

I did similar. Not out of my comfort zone... But got out and had a great time. You're definitely right... You just need to do things which will make you feel better even if it feels like it would be the worst thing in the world to do. Keep it up. You're heading in the right direction!

I'd love to find a blue to share Everton misery with. Sounds like my kind of person :) I was getting fed up of pretending to not be annoyed when those kopites won. Haha :)

This makes so much sense. Has made me think about my situation too. I often think it's hard to make friends the older you get as people are mainly always in their little friendship groups already and who would want anyone coming along and interrupting?! But I suppose it's that negative thinking...

Thank you for this. Makes me feel a bit more sane and in control of my emotions. I'm having a bit of a rubbish day today... Just the normal feelings of it being a weekend and not having that person to hang around with and interact with etc like I had for 2 1/2 years. I realise it is normal and...

This was a great post that has some good advice in it :) you are right. I need to seek happiness personally and not rely on other people or other people's actions. None of it sounded harsh. I am not sure if I genuinely do need more or it's just a communication problem but I would go with the...

Thanks. It's good to speak with someone going through a similar thing. It feels quite surreal to me currently but not the end of the world, weirdly. We had a break from each other for a good few days and then today it was decided that it was definitely over. He didn't want to fight for it and I...

Hey :) don't really feel as though I've got that mate that can come round and I can just vent to!! Everyone always seems to have their own problems and I am a good listener ha ha! I do love him and care about him a lot... as he does with me. I'm not head over heels in love with him... Am I...

I haven't been on this for a good while and seems I only come back when I am suffering some sadness! I must rectify that because you are all good people... But life gets in the way sometimes. Anyway, suffering a lot at the moment with relationship issues. I am currently sat in my mum and dad's...

Again, it's wonderful to be understood! Last night whilst I was watching the match, he went over to discuss more holiday stuff (God knows how much discussion this holiday needs, but hey)... He told me he stood his ground and stuck by his guns on everything he disagreed with so I was pleased. It...

@COYBL25 The sedatives thing is a good suggestion. I'm just scared of doing that. I might have a think about it. Do they work straight away? Maybe they would help over the stressful period of the holiday and help me not react badly to certain things.

I like to write stuff down as it's always warmly met on here by all of you... But at the same time, it can make me feel a bit like the issues are just a bit silly! I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing. Maybe it can give me some perspective, or maybe it's just more paranoia about thinking I...
