    John Hurst RIP

Sad to think that he won the league in 1970, and less than 4 years later was the only one of the actual first team to be still playing in my first match, Burnley away in March 74. Always intrigued by him playing in the number 10 shirt. One of my favourite stories growing up was his goal at...

Was a nervy match this, but the Students ran us closer than anyone except Bayern that campaign. A clear memory of this night was Colin Harvey beginning the circle of control. At this point we couldn't do half a dozen keepy uppies. By the end of the season we'd learnt! and were Europe's best team

Not sure it didn't cost us. The 2 points extra we were counting on had to be sacrificed for not getting beat

Nice story....If you had a programme for my first match Burnley 3-Everton 1 March 1974 as a general repayment of Evertonians I'll give you my address 😉 Known a few decent Burnley supporters over the years. Hopefully we'll be up there to play you next season

Is this the greatest Everton XI ever?

I'd agree with most of that ( spelling aside😆) but personally would put Shaggy Stevens ahead of Seamus. And I never saw Tommy Wright who won the league and went to a world Cup finals. And might go Bob ahead of Lineker, as his one season has awful connotations

What memories! The Stoke game, Goodison was electric. The quarter final at Cardiff, when he could have put the ball in the net three times but feinted again and again. We asked him after the game, why didn't you just score? With a cigarette hanging out of his mouth he said " It would have...

    2022/23 Dwight McNeil

Had noticed that DCL ran towards him to celebrate. I think he appreciates having a winger playing to a system he can play too

I think they also told him and Iwobi to get 10 yards closer to DCL when they swapped wings. Good to see coach's coaching

And if you want something more modern, 2 tracks from the incredible Gang of Youths album "Angel in Real time" from last year reference going to Goodison.

I remember that playing at the 0-0 with Sunderland, Christmas 83. Sad songs Elton John from the VHS recordings of cup final day in 84. And always think of forest away '78 when I hear Bee Gees How deep is your love.

    2022/23 Nathan Patterson

Can't argue that he's got improvements to make, but given his age he's not going to be hitting 7+/10 every week. And being spelled by a hugely professional influence like Seamus( who unfortunately can't do it week in week out anymore)is the ideal way forward. Those of us of a certain vintage...

However I believe he's been seen in Wilmslow near where he used to live. Not quite cash machine near the Rocket, but pretty close
