100%. Beautifully written by Peggy Noonan and perfectly delivered by Reagan

    The GOT Book Club

About a quarter of the way through this one. It’s a bit of a slow read this far, but starting to pick up a bit. Really enjoyed his prior book about Chernobyl:

    NHL

Went to today’s Caps game with tickets I won at a work raffle. They didn’t play well but I got to see another Ovi goal!

    The Dead Thread

The whole thing is super sad. I wonder if it’s carbon monoxide poisoning similar to what happened to the tennis player Vitus Geraulitis (sp?). Improperly installed propane heater

An excellent actor. Visited the Marine Corps Museum several years ago and Gene Hackman narrated the introductory video. He was understandably very proud of his service. A life very well-lived. RIP. Semper Fi

    TV Series

Yup. Same. I liked the first episode but haven’t found it that interesting after that. It’s a shame- lot of actors I really like in it (de Niro, Angela Bassett, Plemons, Connie Britton), but script is dull and unimaginative

If you won £3 million pounds

One of the custodians in the school my mother worked at won about that much in the lottery. Nice fella—he kept working because he liked his co-workers, set up his kids with houses, and would regularly pay for breakfasts for the admin staff and teachers

    TV Series

Watched the first episode last night and thought it was pretty good. De Niro is excellent as expected

Four Nations Ice Hockey. The Good Guys (Canada) vs Orange Man's MAGA Militia on Ice (USA)

Congrats to all the Canadian posters on here. Quick question that someone may be able to help me with. Do you know how to find game reports from previous games? I went to a U.S./Canada game in the mid-90s at Nassau Coliseum on Long Island. Canada won easily, Petr Nedved was the best player on...

    Happy Birthday to wm02........

Thanks Jimi! My middle son was also working the Mets fan angle on his card. His rendering of Mike Piazza has put a smile on my face all morning:

Four Nations Ice Hockey. The Good Guys (Canada) vs Orange Man's MAGA Militia on Ice (USA)

An acquaintance of mine played fairly high-level college football as an offensive lineman. He had a violent breakdown some years back—I’m convinced it’s CTE

Four Nations Ice Hockey. The Good Guys (Canada) vs Orange Man's MAGA Militia on Ice (USA)

This isn’t related to tonight’s game, but saw this article about Bobby Hull and CYE the other day. Really sad—I have to imagine a lot of the NHL players have suffered from it over the years: https://www.npr.org/2025/02/19/nx-s1-5302249/bobby-hull-cte-nhl-hockey

Any recommendations for a good bourbon? My mother’s birthday is coming up and she’s discovered a love for bourbon in her 70s

    Travel thread 3.0

It was part of a trip throughout Turkey during my graduate student years, so did everything on a shoestring budget. So I don’t have any advice on restaurants—it was mostly instant noodles on a camper stove! Stayed and spent most of time in the historic downtown area (Kaleici sp?). Awesome place...

Yes. Spent about 3-4 days in Antalya about 20 years ago. Loved it.
