Wingers drifting in is the so-called new thing (although Moyes did that 20 years ago). That's how Pep sets up his team now. Fullbacks are supposed to provide width. There's also a concept called roaming fullback which is basically a fullback who can pop up anywhere, like middle of opponents...
People need to realise that no matter who we sign there will be some issues. We will not be signing the players that are quick, skillful, have great footballing IQ, strong, tall, had a great last season, young etc all in the same player. Some compromises are just inevitable because we can't...
Defenders will always lose if they have to turn first. That's not how you play the game in the first place. Otherwise your defenders would need to be quicker than the quickest wingers in the league. And where do you find a winger quicker than Frimpong? Fullback quicker than Salah?
Tactically...
How many players in the world play well in every match at that level.
I bet you could have seen a poor match by prime Messi. Some people would have decided based on that match he's not all that and Everton shouldn't sign him even he wanted to come.
Can we stop with the "I saw him in one match and he wasn't great" stuff? It's just so f*ing tiring. Club has a team of professionals analyzing these guys but you make it sound like you watching one match are a better judge. And frankly I don't get the point. No different from watching a player...
Dibling is English, young and has PL experience and looks decent. Of course he's going to cost serious money. There aren't that many players of his age that don't look out of place in PL.
Just out of curiosity where can I find these prices for future reference? I thought it was up to the selling club what a player is worth but guess I was wrong.
I do think Moyes might do that. McNeil is also useless on the right side but at least that's Harrison's position.
But I see you are one of the tough keyboard warriors.
It may have been that they had to choose between Thelwell and Moyes and saw sacking the manager a bigger issue than just letting DoF's contract run out. And I base this on the rumours of players Thelwell apparently had lined up that Moyes turned down. Moyes is known not to like the DoF model.
