    Ronald Koeman discussion

In Koeman's first season, a lot of the pressing was the remains of Poch's high press, but over his tenure the amount of pressing decreased. He always talked about pressing high up the pitch, but from my experience it was more of just being organised behind the ball, and closing down angles and...

    Ronald Koeman discussion

You lot looked very similar to us in our November-December slump last year, lump it up to a big man upfront and if it doesn't work, repeat it until it might work. Luckily for us today, VVD is probably the best CB in the league in the air. He's also very reluctant to drop out of form players out...

    Everton Transfer Thread 2016

Alright lads, come here in peace. Created an account with you lot during the whole Koeman drama, and posed this question on May 5th "A question to you Everton fans, with City, United, Wet Spam, Chelski and you lot all planning on big overhauls of your squads and spending X hundred million, do...

    Everton Transfer Thread 2016

Stek is a pretty good back up keeper, very very average as first choice, but for 750k would be a good signing.

There is no perfect measure of how good a squad is, but surely the team that performed the best over 38 games, had the best squad last season. You can measure a squad by expense, reputation, expectation, but surely performance is the best one?

The only thing your post is lacking is "FACT." at the end of it. I'm talking about last season as an indicator, because it is the most recent barometer of how a player performed, and how 'good' they are/were.

I agree mate, I think you could have a good argument either way on a lot of the players, I lean one way, others may lean another, which is fair enough.

I appreciate the personal insult, for just discussing football. However I understand that two years ago you had a very good team, that did better than our team this season, but assuming you can just just copy and paste that same team into a new season with a good manager, and expect the same...

Come on, I know your wearing blue tinted glasses, but if you think Stones (as good as he can be) is such a huge improvement right now, on a very good defender in Fonte, and that Barry and Mirallas are such a big improvement on Wanyama, and Tadic (who got more goals assist combined than Payet...

I agree it's not perfect, but it's a better indicator than most. Over the course of 38 games last season, our squad managed to get the sixth highest point total, while we don't have the sixth best squad, we can't be a million miles away.

Yes your squad two years ago was better than ours, I think it's easy to say with a good manager you will go back to being that side, whether it's true or not is a different argument.

The combined XI, would be Forster, Coleman, Stones (close with Fonte), Van Dijk, Bertrand (closeish with Baines) Wanyama, Mccarthy, Mane, Barkley, Tadic, Lukaku. I count that as 6 Saints players and 5 Everton, although you could argue it could be 5-6. If were talking about a squad, I don't...

I'm not saying it's rubbish, I'm saying it's not good enough at the moment, to match your ambition of getting top 6.

I agree, you have a lot of potential in your squad, but behind Lukaku (if he stays) you haven't got many options, your well stocked in midfield, and your defence should be much better than it performs. However I still think if you want to be up there next season for Europe/ Champions league you...

One result doesn't define a season. We beat Arsenal, City, United, Chelsea, Spurs and the scousers, it doesn't mean we have a better squad than them.

You haven't got a bad squad, but my point is to match the ambition your board are showing, to take Everton back to the big time, it's not good enough at the moment. I'd argue our full strength XI is better than your full strength XI, even though it's fairly close.

Looking past the short term mock conflict between Saints and Everton, I'm looking forward to the coming season, and seeing what both teams do in the transfer window, and next season. If Koeman does go, arguably you will have a good manager in place, but will need to re-invest heavily in your...

Don't know what it means but Roy Keane is 1/100 to be your new manager, someones put a lot of money on him. Maybe they got the wrong RK. http://www.oddschecker.com/football/football-specials/everton/next-permanent-manager Edit: I didn't know how betfair exchange works, ignore.

With respect, you have no idea that any of the story has any "substance". You have an opinion on it obviously, but you simply don't know if any of it is true. Where is the evidence that the Southampton board were unhappy with Koeman? It's not the same "ITK" who just yesterday said Koeman is...

The simple truth is, Saints fans want it to be true because it looks good for us, you want it to be wrong because it looks good on Everton that you were able to pull Koeman away from Saints with your sheer ambition. Who knows the real truth? None of us clowns.
