Ok. Basically, I'll treat it like an NFL game (they're always the busiest and take the longest to get into, like 30 mins.) Mainly, it's about maximizing my drinking time as much as possible, but also hitting the bathroom before. Cuz I will be crushing beers.

Another newbie question - what time will people get to the stadium and in their seats? I'm used to the American way of getting to the grounds 5-10 mins before the official start, but I believe that it's much earlier for soccer/football matches.

Yes, this will be my first Everton game live! We're actually making a pilgrimage to Goodison after for the Leicester game (Can't come to Europe only to seem them play in Bern, ya know?) Will be a lovely, drunken train ride back stopping in Paris and London. And yes, I will be in the Bern Expo...

What about fans congregating in a certain part of town, banners, etc.? Bern doesn't seem to have a lot of open public space, though by the grounds it seems more open.

Questions for folks on here - any chance there's going to be a part of town where people will be hanging out a la Lille? Also, any word on bar/bars, etc.?

It's actually 3 hotels in one. Budget, regular, and somewhat premium (we're in the regular, the novotel is the nicer option.) I imagine that being the primary home base - dont want to have to schlep super far back to the main city after a late game and lots of pregame beers.

Nah, the NBA isn't really my jam. Plus the Nets used to be in New Jersey (which everyone seems to conveniently forget or just not care about.) I could never bring myself to love anything with any sort of origin in Jersey.
