    Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Nah, don't agree. Everybody needs time to adjust to a new environment, patterns of play, tactics, team-mates, way of life, etc. It's obviously an advantage for teams to have played together and understand each other.

    2024/25 David Moyes

But I don't think we were in a position to ask them to stay until, say, August 7, when we'll replace you. I'm sure this will be sorted, it's just that this temporary "gap" in the squad size is taking a little longer than surely anybody would have wanted or even expected.

Yes, I was pleased to hear that too. Standards.

No, no, no. You're drawing the wrong conclusion there. Absolutely correct to let them go. But the replacements haven't arrived - that's where the issue currently is.

    2024/25 David Moyes

Yup, definitely. He knows the game - these owners will shaft him when the time comes. I don't think he's disrespectful or antagonistic, just realistic now. He'll be gone when the time comes. He might as well put it up to them while he's here. Nothing to lose. He's entitled to demand better.

    2024/25 David Moyes

I'm not his biggest fan - even if I recognise his deep competence as a manager - but that interview gets the likes of me well onside. Moyes is frustrated because he knows recruitment is way off where it should be by now. There may be good reasons for that, but that's not his concern. His concern...

    2024/25 David Moyes

"Nice football in the first half", "the fans are great, a big turnout..." All waffle. Moyes, to his credit, is quietly stewing. "Let's be fair, it wasn't just because we had a few missing through injury..." I realise that the market is tough for what has become a distressed brand in Everton...

    2024/25 David Moyes

Good interview from the Moyesiah. Snivelly Goebels was trying to get him off the subject of a small squad, but he wasn't really having it. I suspect he's very frustrated and, at this stage in his career, isn't reticent about saying it. I like that.

If we're buying from only one club, things are worse than I thought.

We should be going to the US with at least half of our new players to bed in and represent the club properly. Kinnear was waffling about the importance of the tour for the new players - but what new players? Barry? Travers? Who else? He was going on about the US as an important market. So why...

Personally, I think it was madness this club traveling to the US for this when we have made such a mess of the window so far. We were simply not prepared, yet we have Kinnear telling us the US is "such an important market" for us. If it was that important, why are we reducing the value of our...

Setting the bar high again, I see. Never taken an expectation and played it up, has Moyes.

"Bottom half and should have enough to stay up" really isn't going to cut it for these owners' first summer. I'm not suggesting you are suggesting that'll do, but we need to start signing players pretty urgently now. I'm sure we will - but it's been a slower summer than surely everyone -...

People want action now. Signings. It's clear that we need a massive overhaul. Yes, we can only do so much, but that doesn't mean we need to pretend most of what we have are up to it. Things will calm down when a stream of quality new players comes through the door, but until then people are...

New Everton Owners: The Friedkin Group

The timing of this is no accident. They are under the cosh. Therefore, roll out the CEO with his talk of "important markets" and "how big Everton is" and Snivelly with his faux-hesistant questions (which are actually answers as they lead so much).

19 now, is it? Inflation is off the charts in the US, isn't it?

    Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Absolutely. The owners won't be in a position to talk ambition if they don't back the manager. If I were Moyes, I wouldn't be worried that they won't back him. I'd be more worried that they'll back him too late. They'll be able to point to ambition, but he won't have the time to bed the new...

    2024/25 James Garner

Yup. I get that we can't clear everyone out at once, but nobody needs to pretend any of the above are any cop in a serious team.

    2024/25 James Garner

At best, he would be a useful reserve. At best. If he's still at the club in three years, we've completely failed.
