They seem to be worried that it could be a broken metatarsal.

    Berahino maybe.

Football fans are so fickle. At Barkley's age Wilshere was putting in MOTM performances against Barcelona and Brazil.

Baines: sell for £16m in January. Yes or No?

I'd sell, then use the money to buy Shaw.

Chelsea are insane for letting this kid go out on loan.

It's not that I can't see what you see, it's that you're not putting it into the proper context. He is not a cut above the likes of Morrison and Hughes at England youth level, let alone some of the international talent around. There are a hundred lads out there with Barkley's talent, and as...

    Ross Barkley

If suggesting that claims about Barkley becoming world class are premature is now considered "slating" him, then that goes some way towards illustrating just how detached from reality English football fans are getting. The same 'pros' that were saying he'd be the next Gascoigne were making the...

You also see people claiming that he will be world class, which is equally absurd. This country is far too insular when it comes to football, so our young players get massively over-hyped because we don't have a decent handle on what other talent there is out there.

Disagree. He isn't performing at a higher level than Ravel Morrison right now, who is with the U21's. That said, I think both are good enough for the seniors.

    Ross Barkley

He broke his leg in Belgium with England and was initially told by the Belgian doctor who looked at it that he wouldn't play again. And it was Tenerife that Everton sent him and his family on holiday to.

    Ross Barkley

I daresay I've known the name longer than most Evertonians mate (y) If we're talking solely about English players then among those following English youth football there still is no consensus as to who is the better player out of Barkley and Morrison, or even Hughes, let alone Wilshere if...

Because I follow England and English youth rather than Everton. I rate Barkley, but much of the hype is absurd and unhelpful.

    Ross Barkley

It probably isn't though, not unless we define his generation very narrowly, and limit it to English payers only. We massively overrated our players in this country, even more so when they're from a club we support.
