Buying 20m players is not gonna get us anywhere. We need 50-60m players to start and build each window so we end up with top class across the whole team. We have built up a number of average players by not paying for top quality.
Looking at the athletic data the best option would be Graham Potter. Didn’t realise how good he had been. I know it’s not a sexy appointment but the data suggests it would be a really good move forward.
He was our most creative player in the first half. The only one that was moving to receive the ball all the others far too static. The only one looking to move the ball forward rather than the safe uncourageous Gomes. Gomes for me is a bigger problem than Iwobi.
I was quite impressed when first came. I just don’t know what he adds, can’t tackle, no pace, no assists, no goal threat, passing inconsistent (except backwards ) gives away silly free kicks. Doesn’t create.
what does he do well?
It was funny watching TAA legs going like the clappers and some smooth machine just easing past him to the ball. Just needs to add some pot shots to his game and he will be perfect.
Souness: Liverpool will win because they have the better players. A bit like they have better players than Brighton or all the other teams they have been beaten by.
The thing that I love about this lad is his aggression in the tackle. That one on shaquiri on the edge of the box. Love it. Still got to develop his passing forward. But my kind of player.
The plan is to get down to 23/24 first teamers, as a result of all the managers in the last few years he inherited a squad of 35 or so. You can only either sell or let their contracts expire to get rid. He has done a good job managing the reduction, without unfortunately getting a lot of money...
