Everton Summer Transfer Thread - 2022

The difference, of course, being that the Wan Bissakas and Maguires of the world are simply tremendously fortunate but mediocre beneficiaries of an obscene football financial system, while Trevor Francis scored the winning goal in the 1979 European Cup final.

Rmember my grandad going bonkers over Trevor Francis costing a million in 1979.

It went years ago, with Maguire & Wan Bissaka costing over £140mil.

    2022/23 Anthony Gordon

This is up there with 80m for Maguire and 70m for Wan-Bissaka, utterly mind blowing fee.

    2022/23 Anthony Gordon

My god when you look at that, Gordon could cost more than Sterling. I suppose that's the going rate for an English youngster.

That's one half of a hideous team.

Haaland was 21 when he signed for City Luke Shaw was 18 at £30m in 2014; i believe that's fair comparison. So my list is Jadon Sancho Anthony Martial Raheem Sterling Erling Halaand Aaron Wan Bissaka Kai Havertz Christian Pulisic Leroy Sane John Stones Luke Shaw

…well United have utilised ex-wingers to good effect in recent times with Antonia Valencia and Ashley Young.

Tell United fans that and they will bring up the name Wan-Bissaka. However, as a rule I think you are right. I think most fullbacks these day would have been converted from other positions. Although the importance of the role has evolved and it is physically very demanding it is still...

    2021/22 Nathan Patterson

Never really got into these...bit too taxing for my liking... Is the answer Les Dennis and Amanda Holden? AWB gets a bad press...hed be a brilliant signing for any team out of the top 4-6 places...instantly be one of their best players. Hes played there before as well. If anything it...

Niels and Patterson can't defend. No fullback can nowadays unless the sacrifice attack. Mykolenko is basically Wan Bissaka with a left foot.

I had visions of 80m, at 1 point, but the way this market is currently going, I sadly have to consider 60m a fair market value. As Cyborg @davek says, in 8 weeks that may seem foolish, but I dont think we can wait 8 weeks, for any reason.

Everton Summer Transfer Thread - 2022

Always hard to know what to believe, but I think so too. Heads will fall off because we won’t get the £80m that literally nobody other than some soggy-panted GOT doom merchants decided he was worth, but if we can get north of £60m and knock a ~£50m chunk off our cumulative losses it’ll be a...

    2021/22 Anthony Gordon

In his first handful of games I thought he looked slow because he was nervy and indecisive but at times last season he was electric. He absolutely skinned TAA a couple of times in the derby and had plenty of top class defenders chasing shadows.

    2021/22 Anthony Gordon

Three things he needs to improve on. Stamina, but in part that develops with age, also in how to pace yourself, the lad goes through an immense amount of workload first 60 and he paces himself better with more of a 'team press' etc you'll see him improve in effectiveness over a full 90. His...

    2021/22 Anthony Gordon

If people think hes slow, and I appreciate it's a game of opinions, but to me I just cant see that at all. Wan Bissaka is quick, and Gordon just breezed past him very early on at old Trafford. Did the same to Arnold at Anfield. The argument for Gordon is how does he start utilising his speed...

Wan Bissaka went for like £50m after his breakthrough season. Why would we sell Gordon for half that?
