A great book.

I sometimes visit evertonresults.com to remind myself of matches I went to in the 60's. It always seems to be sunny. September afternoons with long shadows across the pitch and huge clouds of tobacco smoke rising over the crowd. We were a proud lot though never media favourites. After Bally arrived, we silently asked ourselves who the hell could beat us when we had the wee man, Youngy, Ray Wilson and Labby in the side.

Well, the skies got darker once the eejits sold Bally and the old main stand was knocked down. But the memories live on of me da and his talk of Dixie, Cresswell and Lawton and however impressive the new ground turns out to be, in the mind of this old codger, Everton will always be Goodison, September '62 and my first game.
