Relegation Thread 25-26

Big couple of games coming up.
Sunderland (away)
Fulham (home)

4 points would be fine but 6 points would be ideal.

Yesterday is typically a draw. Tottenham defended exceptionally well but didn't really offer much except set pieces which wouldn't have been an issue with Branthwaite. Everton failed to take any of the chances created including a couple of good chances in opening few minutes.

My concerns are similar to others:

- General state of the full backs offensively.
- Tarkowski's performances after the injury at the backend of last season. Huge fan of his but come on man.
- Why Alcaraz isn't playing as a #10? Sinply bring Dewsbury-Hall deeper into centre mid. Does my head in.
- Big issue at centre forward. Surely play Ndaiye as a #9 and try to utilise him like Moyes did with Arnautovic at West Ham with Alcaraz behind.

It's frustrating because we aren't far off having a good side.

That's all.

…..Fulham are strange, they’ve looked ok when I’ve watched them but get beaten, seem to think they’ve done well at Goodison in recent times.

But you know it won't happen because they are what they are.
Yes. Beto we know is what he is. He can finish if in confident streak but isnt anywhere near the quality of a decent forward. Barry ill give time to considering his age.

I felt we needed a proven forward in the summer rather than chancing 30 mill on a prospect. For me beto and the 30 mill on a proven forward in his 20s would have been a better call.

as much as it is in vogue to say it's a poor league (people say that every year, making it somewhat of a nonsense thing to say, I dont think there ever seems to be a consensus among the average fan that 'the premier league is strong this year'), I think the reality is that the premier league is a really tough and competitive competition, with mid table sides perhaps being as strong as they ever have relative to other seasons. the likes of Forest, Villa and Palace are all amongst, if not the favourites to win the two European competitions they're in, so that shows the relative strength of the premier league over the rest of europe. 17th place Spurs and 15th place United in 24/25 were in the final of the europa league.

you may not like the style of football played, the time wasting, the Pepification of the league etc, but I think it's wrong to deny that the Premier league is chock full of talent and ability, and strong coaches and managers.

the 3 promoted sides that have that bit more about them than previous years, and the sides who finished 15th and 17th last year look much improved (though with United they are hopefully just on a bit of a streak and normal hilarious service will resume)

therefore I dont think it's easy to rule anyone aside from Liverpool, Arsenal, City, Chelsea, Villa (started badly but looking very much in good shape now) , Newcastle and Spurs out of the possibility of relegation. Sides like Bournemouth and Brentford who many tipped to struggle due to losing players and a manager look good, perhaps even better in Bournemouth's case. Whereas in previous season's that may have been the kind of side that would struggle. Equally, you could certainly see Brentford struggling if the long throws get sussed, and they lose a few key players to injury.

And then you have sides like Forest and West Ham, who look really bad currently but have got pragmatic, defensive minded managers in with track records of improving sides defensively and getting teams out of holes. Plus a good few quality players like Bowen, Gibbs White etc who can drag them to results

I think a lot of this season could be on a knife edge for many clubs with a few sliding doors moments. i can totally see a world where things click for us and we come 7th-8th and qualify for europe

i can also see us getting dragged into it and coming 17th-18th if we continue to struggle to score, pick up injuries to key players, the mood turns sour after a pour run etc

i imagine we'll likely finish somewhere in the middle of those two, but injuries, luck, jnauary signings, new managers etc can all change the course of what could happen, both to us and to other sides.

Could say the same for the likes of Palace, Brighton, Fulham, Brentford, Sunderland

ideally Wolves, West ham and Forest all do just completely sink, but I dont think it will be that straight forward

Whats the feeling if any on Vitor Pereira now. Did we dodge a bullet? Good manager at a bad club?

Streaky manager. Did well last season but Wolves were always going to be down there again selling Cunha and Ait-Nouri as those two created so much from the left and their wide options now are substandard.

If they sack him I struggle to see who they're going to attract.

One win in six and the kopites/press are all over Uncle Fester as a failure.

We are one win in seven for Moyes and nobody seem to care, how is that acceptable just because we are Everton?

Oh… that’s how a typical draw looks like now? Wonder how typical Everton loss will look like…
