2025/26 Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall

Its funny how managers get criticized for being direct - getting called dinosaurs etc. And then they get criticised for not being direct !

I'd imagine Moyes wanted to try something different with the quality of Grealish, KDH, Illy (and notionally Dibling).

Not working with the strikers right now.
He wasn’t playing hoofball, just fast attacking direct play. If he gets the highest PPG in his time as Everton manager why would you change the style? I bet you he doesn’t get the same or better PPG this season.

We were pretty fortunate with injuries during that run and Beto also had a run of scoring. Probably better to judge him over the entire season. We're playing much better football than last year. If Beto was in the same form as last we would probably have at least another 4 points.
Yeah sure, it was 19 games with a worse squad. Are we playing better football, not sure we are. We were playing to Beto’s strengths and he had a consistent run in the team. We will wait and see till the end of season. If he keeps playing the same way I’ll be surprised if we match the PPG.

Branthewaite played the vast majority of those games and I don’t remember us having to play midfielders at full back. Bizarre that even when Moyes works miracles they’re still used as a stick to beat him with.

A change of personnel, last season utilised Doucoure and his endless running and pressing (Doucoure was usually the player on the pitch that had covered the most ground, and was usually a notable distance ahead of second place) because that is his game, that energy running down the player in possession meant Gana sat behind him reading the next pass, which let him get onto the pass receiver and close down quicker, this half yard was what allowed Gana to have the best interception and tackling stats in Europe.
Gana's stats are very much not the same since, because we are playing very differently. Who has come to the fore in CM for us since summer? D-Hall. We aint the same side, we aint playing the same way. It's worth noting a lot of the support seems mad keen on playing Alcaraz more, expecting him to be some standard bearer. It might work. (done a bit of this leg work in the Gana thread).

He could just try being better at football.

Which number is bigger: Iwobi PL goals and assists in the last 12 months or KDH in his entire life?

The KDH signing is actually pretty comparable to an Iwobi signing tbf: the one where Fulham signed him off of us.
I thought assists and goals were low value stats, Big Ig? That's a direct quote from you about Iwobi when he was a player here and I said he was mince. Which he is.

I mean yes, it is better to base player evaluations off of other stats, but that’s also an exhausting conversation to have on here.

For example shots. In general the team is just not shooting enough. Can’t score if you don’t shoot. And you can also have a stretch where 3 shots turn into 3 goals, but that’s not sustainable right? James Garner leads us in shots right now and that’s really bad. Ndiaye has 3 goals on 6 shots. It’s a problem.

KDH is part of this problem. Both because he doesn’t shoot himself but also because he isn’t creating shots for others.

Goals and assists don’t just happen right? A lot has to happen in a match to produce them and the volume of passes into the right areas and actual shots are going to influence how much you score. I saw Iwobi as useful because I thought he was someone who did that difficult work fairly naturally. He just had an awesome season for Fulham. It was always in there. Is it in there for KDH?

Yes set up of the team is wrong as he is not a 10 if was played right would be more to him. Should be played in a 3 with one mid sitting and another getting forward. Also at fulham have more quality at fb so can help join the attack. I would have kdh over iwobi every time for me just didnt see enough in him

Awesome. Really? Wow. If that's the standard for awesome, then maybe it is in there for KDH and I'm not much of a fan.

Id feel better about the state of the club if he was just a signing that doesn’t work out than a signing that actually requires a change in system that we’re not prepared for. Mistakes can happen, needing a whole new system is not having a plan.
