'TG Maverick' is on again at 9pm film4
'Patriot Games' is on 'great TV' at 9:30pm
'Ford vs Ferrari' on fourseven at 10pm

Probably the best of the Nolan batman trilogy it is for me, half watch TG for an hour or so first.

Watched a few movies this weekend.

The Cook, The Thief, His Wife & Her Lover I came across as I was searching by year for something to watch. 1989. Vaguely remember it being highly rated at the time. Very out there. More like a play with elaborate costume design (Gaultier) and sets. Michael Gambon and Helen Mirren. Also realised at the end Ciaran Hinds shows up in a small part. Oh Tim Roth too. Worth a watch if you want something a bit avant garde

Tar was very good, Cate Blanchett. I’d imagine it’ll be in the conversation in awards season

Iron Claw. Very entertaining. Looks great too. If nothing super special. Last couple scenes kind of took the shine off. Left me thinking they were done just for the family.

Caught Stealing . Also quite entertaining in parts. Nothing new but a decent watch.

Mrs Bluerobert has tasked me with finding the spookiest of films for this years Halloween film night. I’ve only recently started to enjoy some horror films mostly because I just find them not scary and as such really crap films.

Hereditary really got me into the genre. I’ve seen insidious and the Nun and they were a return to boring film form. Can any horror fans suggest anything “truly knicker wettingly spooky” as Mrs Bluerobert put it.

Just to add we’ve started watching a few over the last Halloweens and honestly I don’t think I’ll ever be spooked again
Give this a go.

Robert Wise's original of The Haunting remains an incredibly effective film, as well as a prototype for much of the genre.

If you've not seen The Shining, that should definitely be on the list.

In terms of newer stuff, the original Japanese Ringu, Devil's Backbone and The Orphanage are real chillers if you can get on with subtitles.

Talk To Me was a recent English language corker. Left field and not exactly spooky but edge of the seat tense and scary - A Quiet Place.

The original Halloween is still very good.

If you fancy haunted spaceships, Event Horizon is one of @Rita_Poon 's favourites.

Tron Ares.

It's not great, but not as bad as some of the reviews are making out. Visually decent but not enoughto make you go wow, great soundtrack and Jared Leto isn't that bad, he may have found his John Wick.

Film feels like it was originally 4 hours long and it's been cut down in the editing room by a coked up chimpanzee. Just jumps all over the place. Maybe there's been backstreet in other media I've missed.

Don't think there'll be any follow up to this.
It really didn’t add anything new to the story, other than what they thought were updated visuals, but given Tron Legacy was 15 years ago, that movie was better in story, visuals and soundtrack. This new one did nothing for me personally.

Watched 2 films tonight so far…

Nobody 2 …… meh

F1 2025 …. Loved it, great film in my humble opinion

I did start to watch the new superman film but gave up after 10 minutes… not my thing with robots and crap…. Glad really as I watched F1 instead.

Nicholson or Ledger? Pretty sure Ledger takes it...

Two different Jokers, one more sinister one much more funny. Nolan get's the better film overall (even though I like Keaton's Batman best) but the original is so clunky in dialogue, it's hard going. Burton's vision plays on the comic, so is an exaggeration, whereas Nolan's is much more darkly stylised. Gotham cathedral vs the unknown setting for Ledger's end scene? Keaton's Batmobile or Bale's? Nicholson's crew vs Ledger's? Basinger vs Holmes/Gylenhall? Let's do that again, Basinger vs Holmes + Gylenhall. Billy Dee was chronic underused in the original though, how anyone could do that to the original owner of the Falcon is beyond me. Oh, also Palance vs Wilkinson. Caine is more involved as Alfred. Original bat cave, axis chemical, and Francis Bacon get's a run out.
