2025/26 Iliman Ndiaye

This is the Ndiaye thread. Am quite happy to go on some of the others if that makes you happy.
He first grabbed attention playing no 9 for Sheffield United at no 9 top goal scorer so he went abroad as they were promoted & we have played him on the wing when he himself states he prefers to play down the middle - DM just being stubborn - our scouting system needs looking at signing Beto then Barry plus how many teams play with a no 9 who both of them cant trap a bag of cement or win a ball comfortably in the air?????
Beto looks more likely to score but his header straight at their keeper - as I stated to @COYBL25 Michael Keane heads the ball very well hence his goal - I stated that before kick off.....

He's certainly wasted on the right with no full back to link up with. And that obviously impacts the full back on the rare occasions he makes a foray forwards too, as Ndiaye is constantly migrating to a central position, leaving O'Brien completely isolated.

Clearly all of Ndiaye, Dewsbury-Hall and Grealish are going to be starting when fit, but it leaves us lop-sided and takes away an attacking threat from one side—three left-footers across midfield isn't ideal tbh and it's showing.

I'd personally like to see Ndiaye and Grealish playing closer together, for example with one of them as a number 10 or a false 9 given we only have two Sunday league strikers available to us.

Gueye is very hit and miss this season, could we not ask Garner to try playing his role and allow Dewsbury-Hall to play a more box-to-box position, or simply play him alongside Garner and Gueye, and play a front three of Ndiaye, Grealish and Dibling in some form?

It's basically impossible for any of them to be less of a goal threat than our actual strikers...

I don't understand the shouts to put him as a 9. It makes no sense. He's never looked like a 9. We shouldn't be forcing players into other positions because other options aren't good enough. That's the problem with this squad in general.

His best abilities are running with the ball and cutting inside to shoot. He's crying out to have an attacking fullback who can help him with creating space and another option. Grealish doesn't have Myko helping too much, but he helps enough, and he also has KDH helping him out on occasion. Ndiaye basically has nobody.

Very Everton to bring in a new best player that completely neuters last seasons best player.
Completely agree. At the time I thought it was a stupid decision, but you stay quiet because you don't want to come across as negative.

Who was our best player last season and where does he play? Ndiaye and on the left.

Who did we bring in over the summer for over £200k per week and where does he want to play? Grealish and on the left.

So we are now having to move our best player from last season out of position. All of a sudden, the links to Juventus over the summer make sense.

His value will massively drop playing out on the right, but presumably Moyes doesn't care, as he is only here for another 18 months. Same goes with Alcaraz. Looked really good last season and scored some big goals. A young player with potential, who needs minutes. But again, the players we have brought in over the summer want to play in the position, and he is finding himself sat mainly on the bench, with his value plummeting, when he should be a real investment for the club. But does Moyes really give that much of a toss? I don't think he does.
