Replying to Goat’s comments at the beginning of this thread to be honest——Could he explain his comments that we are the worst fans of the lot and he has witnessed that fact everywhere we go!

For the most part we all hope for, rather than expect, better times. I believe maintaining the hope, the faith, is tougher for those of the also-rans who have seen glory days (no matter how distant the memory is).

I have always considered fans of the likes of Tranmere, Accrington etc. to be the best fans. These fans never see, nor have they ever seen success, yet they turn out week after week to pay their hard earned spending money to their chosen team.

Ignoring Chico being a WUM, you are right in terms of numbers our fans are great, however I'd say since 2009 atmosphere at GP dropped, and atmosphere at home and away games has got worse. Also with overselling season tickets at GP and credit hoarding, you've ended up with same people getting tickets and naturally they aren't as excited about being at match as those who don't go as often. I've noticed away games, when fans who don't normally go are there atmosphere is a lot better. Worst type of fans are those who arrive late, go down 10 minutes early for half time and leave 10 minutes early. I remember being at Arsenal game it was 1-1 end to end and fans in Park End were leaving early. Like any group of supporters, you have good and bad, but in recent years I have noticed a lot of our fans are bellends. Ellis Simms misses doesn't play well at Anfield, "he's crap", yet other players are given a pass.

Our fans always give players passes and targets.

Michael Keane is No. 1 for this at the minute. Iwobi was prime for it. Understandably, Ndiaye gets a pass because hes brilliant, but of he misplaces the same pass Keane does he wont get stick.

But what i will disagree with is atmosphere. The derby is always the worst atmosphere, because of the hoarders. Same faces at Leeds, Wolves, and will be tomorrow but Saturday is new faces who only go once a year. More arsed about "show us your iPad", its the same every year.

Theres no fixing it, fundamentally, I dont want to be Leeds, who are sining at 5-0 down because theyre tinpot, but that was as flat as I can ever remember at Anfield.

I wouldn't judge our support at Anfield due to fact we always lose, I don't want us to be like some clubs to sing for sake of it. But at same time I think our fans could get behind team more in some games. I also think club play a part in reducing atmosphere. Before derby game that we won, other than playing Spirit of Blues, you didn't have loud music or announcer shouting over fans. Before last derby at GP, same with Semi Final against Chelsea, club just blasted music and you had Rossy deafening people over tannoy. I'd like club to play Spirit of Blues when we are on field, because I think it would help fans get in mood for game.
