2025/26 David Moyes

"The first half was poor,  WE accept that, and  WE probably tactically didn't get it as right as  WE should have done."

we, we, we, ?????

There's only one person who sets the tactics from the Kick Off - The Manager

Oui?

...and the players had to have a word with him at Half Time.
Nothing new here, Allardyce, Benitez, Pardew etc are all the same, it's we when it goes wrong, and it's me when it goes right.

Need to win the next two to keep pace otherwise we’re looking at bottom half in reality, by the time the weekend fixtures shake out we might be close to it already. I’m sure there’ll be improvement this season on last season but there’s a massive opportunity here given the state of some of the other teams like Villa Newcastle Brighton etc. but as usual Everton fall over themselves when presented with opportunity. We’ve got better players than last season but have started at a level below where we finished last season.

We need Branthwaite back asap and need to find a way of getting Dibling and Alcaraz more minutes.
Agree with all that, but we also need a proven striker added in January along with 1-2 overlapping full/wing backs. Beto and Barry don't look good enough by any measure.

Leeds: 3pts dropped
Villa: 2pts dropped
RS: 1pt dropped

6pts down i see it...so we definitely need to win the next 2 league games to sit on;

P7 13pts

That starts to look interesting before playing City.
How is it a point dropped yesterday away at the champions and a team with 240m (in two players) on the bench?!

And Villa 2 points dropped? A side that I don’t think we’ve beaten in 13 games?

Look how far we’ve progressed if that’s your mentality.

Rome wasn’t built in a day, look at expectations already for this season. Anything above 12th is progress this year.

Need 6 points from next two to keep momentum going. Otherwise it’s turning into an average to poor start. If we go out the cup, lost the derby, and have passed up a few gifts at home to put us in the bottom half then he’ll start to invite pressure that doesn’t need to be there.

Start games properly, make subs earlier, and the players need to play with more conviction, there’s just no reason to be mishitting shots all the time and being tentative.
The second he put pen to paper he invited pressure, we possess too many fans that would rather us fail as a club for their own personal benefit, than achieve something and possibly look silly for jumping on his back..

Its not about the club, we've moved to a new dimension of 'I was right' being the most important thing for a growing number of 'Supossed' fans..

The dial needs to be moved. We can’t have more years of not winning derbies, not winning trophies, not winning at the same few grounds, not getting last minute goals, not getting many away wins etc, not qualifying for the champions league. I’m not saying he has to do all those things immediately but we can’t get stuck back into the limitation of knowing exactly what will happen with Everton every season.

The only way a new era of Everton happens is if some of those domino’s start falling. Otherwise it’s just more of the same sob stories of falling short.

Go out there and win the next three as a start and see how we shape up then with the draw for the cup and where we are in the league.

We'll be top 10.

Not that Mordor is out of the way; onwards and upwards.

Well your an Everton fan so maybe your unrealistic, because there’s nothing pleasing about where we have been in the last few years especially.

I’m pleased that we aren’t circling the drain, I’m pleased that we are looking up and not down, I’m pleased with progress and I’m pleased that we have more to be optimistic about and most of all am pleased about making progress from where we have been.

If you want to ignore all that and cry about a fixture against one team then you mustn’t be seeing the bigger picture like me or maybe you have forgotten about where we are coming from!
I’m not crying I’m being realistic—-we’ve played five league games this season won two lost two and drew one, lost the Leeds game because of the managers tactics, Brighton created more chances were the better team and deserved a least a draw, Wolves we won but they’ve been beaten by every team they’ve played this season, Villa were content with a draw, and have they a game this season, and Moyes could have used his subs. a lot better than he did, yesterday we played the only in form team we’ve faced this season and lost it in the first 30 mins. because of the managers tactics. I’m being realistic about this season but if your pleased that’s fine for you and after the last few years I’m looking forward to better days—- I’m not rushing anyone I know it will be a longer wait like you but I’m definitely not as optimistic as you especially with the striker and full back positions being in the state they are in.

We lost 2-1 to the best team in the country and were the better team for 45 minutes.

some people just never ever miss an opportunity to push their agenda do they? It’s so boring 😴

I've certainly got no agenda against Moyes. I was pleased when we appointed him for the short/medium term, delighted with how we did last year and there are clear positives from the start of this season.

It doesn't mean he shouldn't be questioned yesterday. Why were we appalling for the first half an hour and only then start playing alright? I'm not expecting us to suddenly be challenging top 6/7 but if we are to progress, we shouldn't be patting ourselves on the back saying "didn't we do well?" after we've already given the game away. That's not an acceptable mentality if we want to be a serious club again.

They were there to be got at, as they have been every game this season, and we missed the boat.

Big couple of games coming up. Get through to next round and then beat West Ham and its been a really good start to the season. Get knocked out and fail to beat Hammers though and the mood changes a bit.

I don't think any fan would disagree with that, but jumping on his back so damn quickly is just beyond ridiculous..

Even if Moyes just builds a solid foundation to this club and a good structure for another manager to be able to positively walk in and take us to a new level, than to me he will have done a great job..

A Derby loss at Anfield with a brilliant second half performance, isn't really a base to hang someone from..

Absolutely correct.

Liverpool are a very good side - not what they were under Klopp, but still one of the top six teams in Europe at the moment. Nobody expected us to rock up there and play them off the park. Nobody expected us to beat them - or even draw. What we did expect, however, was that we would at least rock up. But we only got off the bus after 30 minutes having gifted them a two-goal start. It's not too difficult to lift it when the pressure is off at that point, so being "the better side" in the second half is small change when the game has already gone.

Nobody demands we beat Liverpool or even draw with them right now. We demand our players do their best and our manager gets the most out of his players. That's all we can control. Control the controllables. We didn't do that yesterday. Had we done so, we might have got something from the game. We might have got nothing. But we would have known we'd done all we could. We didn't have even that consolation yesterday.

Everton fans waving the white flag in the derby might be understandable given the disparity of resources and how both clubs have been run in recent decades. But Everton fans defending that first half yesterday and talking of "progress" are in Cloud Cuckoo Land.

The Wolves game now is must win if Moyes is to maintain momentum. It's about time we had a cup run - and if we get a favourable draw, which we have so far, we must control what we can control and take advantage of it. We are a better side than Wolves right now. If we are "expected" to lose to Liverpool, Wolves - in their current state - must be "expected" to lose to us. Football isn't as simple as that, of course, but there is no reason at all that we can't go there with a strong side, give a proper account of ourselves from kick-off, and put on a performance that we can be proud of. If we do that, we have every chance of winning.
