My mate, who's a neutral, said the same thing. They played in 2nd gear because they didn't need to get out of it. I disagreed yesterday but on reflection, he's spot on. We never really looked like scoring a second and if we had, they would have moved up a gear.

We don't have a striker worthy of the title and despite some nice interplay in the top 3rd, we aren't threatening enough. I'd be tempted to play Ndaiye as a false 9 with Dibling on the right of a front 3 with Garner holding and Gana and KDH pushing forward to join the attack. I'd tell Grealish to shoot more too. He has a tendency to play one pass too many rather than have a crack. We're not City.
Been same on frt 3 for ages beto
Barry not prem starter standard

Got beat by a better team,
First half we were awful, second half a lot better, the subs they made tells you how far ahead they are they brought on about £300 millions worth off players
That would be more than are entire team.
We are getting better but it will be a season of two before we can go for to toe with them.
They've bought players at the peak of their value whereas we've bought players with potential. If, and it's a big if, our young players develop well there's a world in which we can compete with them in a couple of seasons.

A (Man C) mate and I were trying to work this out yesterday - we reckon 3 subs for each team in the second half, and those are 30 seconds added time apiece. So if our reasoning is sound that means to get his 3 minutes added time, the ref saw NO other stoppages in the second half. 45 minutes of unbroken football, it's a miracle! That or corruption
Isn't it 30 seconds for the goal aswell.

Think is an easy call put it on moyes tbh gives the players an excuse.
I was actually really encouraged by the 2nd half! We're far from getting 50-50 possession, but it was nice to see:
- midfield 'bite' - grealish, gana, garner, KDH and Ndiaye - all going in for tackles, winning them
- and keeping possession in tight spaces
- looking to pass forward even when under pressure
- confidence and assertiveness against the referees from grealish and Moyes
- great tackles from Tarkowski
- good attacking options off the bench

I think we're not far from a good team, but I hope we dont stay 6th - 9th for several years, like Moyes 1.0
8th place would be a great result this year, as long as we build on it, but Moyes is better than before, and our players are also better.

Just imagine if we had prime Coleman, Baines and 2013 Lukaku in this team. (Even with his feather touch!)

even if we can't compete consistently, it would be good to at least see tactical nous + derby day hype = a few wins against them

I was more annoyed at the commentators saying, “Good Ol’ Virgil” when that was happening.

It's really annoying now and old, that there is obvious pro-LFC bias,in the media and refereeing, but we (Everton & title rivals) can't say anything cos we're just bitter. In the media, people like f*ing Murphy and that Steven Whatshisname who made no impact and is not a great analyst...and then the added time, the yellow cards...why are we surprised, there is corruption everywhere, but somehow the PL is some holy ground of honesty.

Out of interest I wonder out of 380 games last season how many had a total stoppage time of 4 minutes. Very few if any I would imagine and if there was did it result in a Liverpool win
Somebody posted that stat yesterday... The answer is 0 and in the games so far this season including our game yesterday the answer is 1.
