2025/26 David Moyes

2-0 down against a team who have gone 2-0 in in 4 of their 6 games this season, is context not a thing to you? We have just lost to Brentford today mate, this Liverpool team is top tier.
We didn't get off the bus and only played when the game was gone. A defeat today was expected. But we are entitled to think our side will give it their best performance even in defeat. The manager did not get the best performance out of that side today because he is far too risk-averse and cowers at the sight of certain grounds.

another thing to consider

can anyone name me a game in which we've been 'out of it' since moyes came back in? I'm struggling to think of one. we've lost to villa (1-0), brentford (2-0, had about 4 guilt edged chances after going behind), chelsea (1-0), liverpool (1-0), city (2-0, goals in 84th and 92nd minute), leeds (1-0) and now today.

we are competitive in every game, yes we are still far from finished article, but we are getting there

Got to beat west ham next game now been frustrating last two games. Been cost by poor finishing has a big decision to make with barry/beto to make
Not really the thread for it because I don’t mean that it’s an issue for Moyes specifically but I agree with this. Two wins this week and it’s looking like a really good start to the season, two losses and it’s a hugely disappointing one. Fine margins in football.

We haven’t performed that well at Anfield since we beat them during Covid, that’s progress. All we can do is hope for progress. We’re a fanbase that will never see us be one of the best teams in the country. It’s unlikely we will see us win anything. That’s not pessimism, that’s realism because of the way that the game is dictated by finances, I’ve been really impressed by our new owners backing of the club this summer, yet we spent a 1/4 of what Liverpool did and they were already champions. Two of their subs were worth more than double our squad.

He's a disciplinarian and a mood manager. He can inject that into teams, but as you say, I've yet to see any evidence where he can set up a team and change it quickly when it needs quickly changing.

He's just not that much of a thinker about the game. Some managers rely on motivation alone, some managers do motivation + tactical awareness. Moyes is firmly in the former camp and always willl be, He looks to have learned nothing since leaving here.

We have a very handy attacking team now and we deserve so much better than Moyes in control of how they play (or dont play, rather).
I'd expect the exact same post from you if we'd come away with a win today..

Do you close your curtains when sun rises..

If it transpires like last season there is no opposition ( looking at you City, Arsenal ) then they can’t really be judged.
That’s fair in a way. But you can only do what you can do in any given time period. Similar to us, some of our fans fawn over Martinez’ first season, but Spurs, United and Arsenal were diabolical by their standards at that time.
