I fully expected to lose today. The gulf in class is stark. Nobody sane would expect to win there - or even to draw. But I hoped to see an Everton side give an excellent account of themselves. All you can do with football finance and officialdom against you is your best.

What we have seen is a capitulation that reflects very poorly on the manager and the players.

Mac Alister is a great player for them, he goes under the radar a bit but they are always more fluent with him in midfield and he can scrap no problem aswell. Rated him at Brighton aswell.

Again with a few more transfer windows it would be good eventually to find CM of his calibre when Brighton picked him up as Gana-Garner can only do so much in games like this.

I think it might have something to do with them being current Premier League champions and in the top two teams of the past 5-odd years, with us constantly being in or around the bottom quarter of the division.

Obviously things are looking better now and we shouldn't compare this squad with anything we've seen from at least the last decade, but that's what's gone before us.

Hopefully winning-mentality players like Grealish and Dewsbury will have a big impact today.
