Our record is truly dreadful, 1 win in the last 5 doesn't look that bad but the fact we've only won there twice in the last 30 attempts is shocking. But what is worse is the fact we've only won 3 in the last 34 visits and 4 in the last 45... it goes on!

So you’re saying we’re due a win?

As to how to approach:

Adopt a defensive posture, low block, hit on break etc, looking for a point in a low scoring affair. Risks the late rs winner by whatever means fair or foul

Or

Expansive. Full width, full press. Only chance to actually win but risk getting battered.

I’m for the latter on this occasion. The band aid must be ripped off for these sorts of games with the improved squad and mentality. It would surely be a surprise to the opposition which is a benefit in itself, and they will be rotating after ECL midweek.

I’m that confident for today I’d pay £225 for a ticket to be there and witness it…

A Grealish/Illy kanchelskis type moment would be long overdue, but when you're playing against a massive juiced up squad, the ref, pgmol and the fawning media I'd take a 0-0.
Todays ref had the balls to send one of their players off in a game, they have won 2 of the 6 games he's been ref for. All I want to see is a game refereed fairly, they struggle with a fair ref.

They struggled at Goodison when we beat them 2-0. Their fouling was picked up quite quickly by the ref that day and he gave them nothing.

The hope, as always, that none of those results involved the side we will put out today.

A good performance from us, a fair referee that can ignore the whinging, and a VAR that doesn’t try to be the star of the snow and anything is possible.

That's exactly what they want teams to do against them, 3-0 or worse if we do that, I remember a few years back we got a draw and there was complaints all around that we parked the bus and it was anti football, Next game they beat Bournemouth 4 or 5-0 and the narrative was Bournemouth were great they came out to play football.. Don't attack them with reckless abandon that's playing to their strengths. Defend, tackle hard, harass them and try and counter this frustrates them.

Who is the referee? My money is on him scoring a 103rd minute winner for them—a spectacular half volley from 12 yards.

PS Moyes should sellotape our defence's arms to their sides for this as VAR will be positively foaming at the mouth about awarding them a non-penalty penalty.
