NUFC aka The Horse Punchers

maybe it's time to fold the club, like the many folds in the bellies and chins of your average newcastle supporter. when people go to the chippy to buy batter fried batter then it's probably a sign of an evolutionary wrong turn. hyper bellends!

The Premier League is very, very poor.

Can have all the money, but theyre just very average aren't they Newcastle?

Bruno a cracking player.
Tonali a great
Gordon is a good player.
Elanga is a good player.

Howe is excellent at getting very average players to exceed their potential see Adam Smith. Murphy, Burn, Pope, Willock, Joelinton...

Hard work and atmosphere will only get you so far against a side like Barcelona. Scandalous the bookmakers had Newcastle favourites today.

I'm not on their side, they have just lost possibly the best most natural striker in the PL. Further they're trying to crowbar a load of new signings in to the starting eleven. Personally, I hope the oil runs out 5 minutes ago and the murderers in the boardroom pull the plug 4 minutes ago.
Lauding this barca is like supporting collina's lawyer, tainted by sleaze.
But that's the point, 'winners in spite of the rules applied to the rest*' means glory followers. It's easy being on the side of success. (real shutball madrid*)

It has just occurred to me, support allegiance is tied to financial solvency, championing signings like silverware, celebrating attendance figures, hyping the official hype. Once football was about the innate skill and delivery on the pitch, it's now a game for pished up part time accountants, like a game of top-trumps. The biological performance on the green stuff is secondary. It's Frankenstein's monster run wild.

Processing this at 11:30 on a Thursday.

But yeah, I just feel theyre very ordinary, mainly due to Isak leaving. I guess im just not impressed by anyone outside of Liverpool, Man City (im not overly impressed by Arsenal).

But agreed. Football is ugly. A state owning a football club. Barcelona, are they 1bn euro in debt? But they've built a stadium? Cant register players. Its hard to not appreciate the quality from La Masia.

The latter has been a gripe for a while. Its why you'll find me active in. The non-league thread where football is football. No lawsuits, no FFP, Just moaning about football.

Good news if you'd bet on Barcelona though.

Howe is their problem though, he is fine if you want too mull about in the PL but tactically he is miles out of his comfort zone at CL level.

Oh agreed.

But with the FFP issues theyve got, I dont think there are many managers who would do a better job with the current crop of players theyve got.

I maintain they're a midtable side who are reaching. Just like he did at Bournemouth.

Theyre at their ceiling, and i think you'll see a natural drop off this season, with 8 CL games.

Depends on whether they are going to get sucked into the old 'PL experience' nonsense, plenty of good managers abroad they could look at, I really don't see Howe ever taking them were they want to be. I see him in the same bracket as Moyes, they are good at getting a bit more out of average/ middle of the road type players but at the same time you can see a clear ceiling limit with how they operate.

Im not saying Eddie Howe is the best they can get.

I just dont think they can get a "top" name, who will be patient to wait for FFP to vanish.

I think Howe has done an absolutely fantastic job at Newcastle, but there is a ceiling as you say. The problem with an overseas manager is for every Iraola, there's a Amorim.

For Newcastle to really push on (for me, and this is why I think the PL is poor, because they've made CL twice in 3 seasons) they need to get rid of the bog standard players like your Willocks, like your Murphy's, Pope's, Burn's and the like.

Got a solid core, but they won't ever compete for a title with players of that ilk.

He no longer is the wonder kid that they thought they were buying.
Many of there fans reckon he hasn't played well for ages going right back to when the RS were interested.
Same as it was when he was with us where he had a purple patch while the window was open then when he didn't get his move just sulked and blamed the fans
