Everton Youth Teams Thread

Tait is an experienced coach one of the best developers around and been responsible for many of our players playing for Everton or in league football.
He is often invited onto panels with the Premier league and FA to develop younger coaches and discuss the coach craft of youth development.
Speak with any of our academy graduates and they all value him from Barkley to Gordon often mentioning his skill as a coach. He needs raw talent to develop, has our current u21 squad have this apart from Clark and Graham?

I’m afraid he doesn’t create any exciting football to watch— his teams play like robots with loads of passing mostly sideways and backwards. I’m amazed that he is thought so highly by People in football and he is used to develop young coaches?

Hi Paul :bye:

Tait undoubtedly has experience and a good standing in the game which he’s earned over many years, but so do Allardyce and Dyche but few would have them as our manager now. It’s a huge leap to PL level and nobody expects Tait to be somehow turning average players into PL players, but I’ve seen little progress in player development in the past few years.

Naming our best u18 players and saying we have no talent apart from them misses the point. It’s not unreasonable to expect us to be producing a few Championship players regularly, bringing in a bit of money from them like Simms and Cannon. Campbell and Dixon have gone backwards in recent years and we’ve brought in a decent set of players at u21 recently like Boakye, Tamen, Gomez and Benjamin even allowing for injuries there’s talent to be developed there. Apart from Armstrong our loan players appear to be barely equipped to shine at League1/2 levels , Isaac Heath at Accrington Stanley is about our highlight.
For me player development hasn’t been good enough under Tait, the likes of Heath may not be PL players but he’s shown enough talent in the past for me to rate him above League2 level.
