That was another point/rant generally - about Mansfield game.
Mansfield sold out;
But the attendance was 48,583.
The difference wasn't just the segregation between fans, nor a big gap of hospitality. It was mainly ticket transfer issues.
IMO, they'll sort the hospitality gap - and they already have as far as I could see. But in time, there will still be more gaps around the stadium than we're used to because of forced digital tickets - like Mansfield.
Fair enough, I must have misunderstood the point. I agree about the general point regarding ticket transfers. I'm not 100% sure why they have gone down this route, I think the idea was that they would be able to sell on the individual's season ticket seat for a big mark up, and maybe that is happening, I don't know, but it seems self-defeating to alienate your single biggest guaranteed ticket-based income stream - the season ticket holders - and not just let them hand over their season ticket to their son/daughter/best mate/milkman (without each of them having to shell out £35 for a membership that seems to have no other benefits - don't get me started on the two tier membership scheme) for the one or two games a a season that they can't attend, they have paid for that seat themselves anyway.
Longer term, I wonder if all of this will have a chilling effect on local support longer term, particularly with younger supporters? If you can't ever get a ticket to the game, or you have to shell out £100-350 to get one, will people have the same connection to the club? I wouldn't have thought so. I suspect the club don't care and would rather have a smaller number of season ticket holders to maximise revenue from tourists and looky-loos but I wonder if demand will hold up in the long term and, if it doesn't, can you attract back the fans that were disenfranchised when demand was high?
