So for not far off £60m we have a pair of forwards both missing some basic attributes. That's some p*** poot scouting if you ask me. I hope we don't spend any more money on players who "might" turn out to be decent. Anyone signed now needs to be better than what we have, no gambles - which got us into a mess in the first place.

Barry. He involves those around him. Beto really has 2 gifts: strength and moderate pace. He’s an average finisher and below average linking play.

We just need somebody to link Grealish and NDiaye and Barry is better suited to that. And I think he will prove to be just as good at finishing as Beto given some chances.

Yes this has been quickly forgotten by the Beto fans. Who’s been utter dog turd in 2 of his 3 starts ,
But he tries and knocks a few defenders over, so he’s ace
I'm not sure everybody see's it like that, it's just we only have a choice between 2 strikers..

With Beto, you know what your getting, he will put a shift in and try and hustle the defence but the bloke certainly has no natural ability.
He's not a player that you can teach ability you only work on what you've got with him..

With Barry, no-one knows yet, so he can't be written off until he's been given a proper run of games..

The derby just might be to early for him, or it could be what wakes him up..

It's like chosing the best dish at McDonald's..

Wow 60m for Barry and beto dont say it like that please

Barry isn't really inexperienced in terms of just time on the pitch in general, he's played well over 100 senior games and is nearly 23 so he's not a wet behind the ears kid. He needs to settle in and get used to a new country, a new league, and new team mates and manager but he's not still learning how to play football. As always though, the first team isn't a talent show where we just put someone out there so you can decide whether you like them or not; deciding whether he's 'categorically crap or not' (you'd hope not given what we've just invested in him) will be done by the coaches and manager who work with him every day not by us demanding he gets 5 games in a row and giving him a thumbs up or thumbs down.
Think Moyes has a good idea already about Barry. Doesnt know what's hit him moving here. Looks a nervous wreck in this Lge. Out of his depth just like Beto. Sticking to my prediction right from the start on this forum - BOTH won"t make it in the Prem and lack of goals by them is going to cost us big time for a Euro place.

Beto.

Not because I think he is any good but because in the little we have seen of Barry thus far he doesn’t look ready for the PL.

That may change over time but right now I wouldn’t be taking a chance on him in a game of this magnitude.

I would say the big thing with Beto is that he’s pretty much the opposite of this. You absolutely don’t know what you’re getting, sometimes he looks borderline unplayable and sometimes he looks like he’s never seen a football before and doesn’t particularly want to see one again.

I wouldn't go as far as saying at times he looks unplayable, he will get goals just cos of how awkward he is, I like the lad and he puts a shift in, but if i took off my blue tinted glasses and was watching him at another club, I wouldn't be pleading for his signature..

It's taken a year just to try and teach him the offside rule..

Barry hasn't exactly shown anything special yet, but Beto really has a tendency to play himself out of the team. I liked him at first, he seemed fiery and determined, but now I think the mentality is holding him back a bit, like desperation creeps in and he loses focus? I'm not sure exactly.

I don't really care which one starts against Liverpool.

Oh no don’t get me wrong, I’m being slightly hyperbolic at both ends of the spectrum but the basic point is the same. Sometimes he looks like a real threat and gives defenders a torrid time, sometimes the game completely passes him by and he’s a waste of a player. I just wouldn’t say ‘you know what you’re going to get from him’ because you don’t really, his performance level can vary wildly. If he played on Saturday it wouldn’t surprise me if he bounced their centre halves around and scored, nor would it surprise me if he chased around like a lost puppy never getting anywhere near the ball - that’s him in a nutshell.

Strikers are always going to be hard to find without limitless funds so you have to gamble and hope the player you sign adapts to the way you play. Its not like there's many out and out strikers nowadays as the role of the forward has changed dramatically.
