2025/26 Beto

But again, if we splurge out on a 50mil striker, do we get Grealish? Do you think a 50mil forward wants to join us or sit on Chelseas bench?

We've prioritized a frankly awful midfield and winger situation this summer and it'll take time. Beto showed enough under Moyes that he can do a job this season.
Your boy Chris Wood cost 12m.
NSNO Chris Wood isn't good enough for us but DCL should be leading our line and is waiting for offers from Arsenal 🙃
DCL is clearly finished, I dont think I've mentioned him once since he left.

And we turned our noses up at 12mil and he's a one in 3 striker (I think his record is slightly better than that).

DCL wasn't finished when he was our number 9 but he was on a pedestal. Thats all im saying. Beto clearly isn't going to win us trophies but he's fine for a boring mid table season which is probably what this will be. We tried for better like Delap, top strikers are in demand and Everton are not.

Personally, I find it frustrating that we have a 40m Winger kissing pine every week and a gaping hole up top.

But anyway, ive promised myself I wont call him pony every week.

If he's pony call him pony mate. I cant wait for Keggars to slip up in the derby personally, this run of 4 weeks of half competent defending has got people losing their minds over him.

(Joking).

I feel like the number of quality strikers has dropped. There’s Haaland out on his own and then Isak but after that you’re into what I would call very functional strikers like Watkins Delap Gyokeres and Wood who will get goals but are they really top strikers?

I remember a very average Chelsea team that had Gudjohnsen and Hasselbaink upfront. They’d both be held up as absolute geniuses if they were playing in this league. Yakubu would have teams falling over themselves to buy him. Berbatov and Keane at Spurs, how much for that pair now? Owen and Fowler? Shearer and Ferdinand. These weren’t even the players at the top teams either, they were a rung below the likes of Henry, Bergkamp Rooney, Van Nistlerooy.
Some of those you’re naming are a similar level to players around now but nostalgia paints a different picture. The games changed a bit and so a lot of the best goalscorers aren’t really classed as strikers as such, but the number of people scoring 10 or 15 or whatever is similar to what it’s always been.
