Obviously the club had to put the wall in for safety reasons but you can see how it affects the stand. I'm guessing the upper part, which is huge, barely stand up during the game?

I've just read that the lower part is 5,000 and the upper is 9,000. Going forward I see that as being the biggest problem in terms of making that stand do what the Street End used to for us.

The Gwladys Street Stand didn't sing but the fans that went in it often would though. If people bothered to open their mouths "in support" it could be a great atmosphere. Fans need to create it - it's not like telly where you can turn the volume up. If you're in the lower south the responsibility is on you more than any IMO.

I think I wrote about this a while ago. Everton really in my opinion should have re homed these pubs. I mean really it’s great that these places have popped up opposite the new ground, the blue room, the terrace bar etc however I do think Everton should of approached a few of the old guard pubs and offered them something. It’s easy to say when it’s not my money I suppose.

But say Everton approached the Winslow and said, right, there’s a plot of land opposite the new ground. It’s 400k to buy, we will buy it, you relocate the Winslow, and you can rent it back of us however we also make 10p on every pint you sell for 100 years, I don’t know I’m not a mathematical genius or anything but I think the surrounding stuff should make Everton money.

Imagine that row of buildings opposite the ground now. All Everton owned. All kitted out. In a row, the Royal Oak, the Winslow, The Brick, The Spellow.

All news, all with their own features etc etc but Everton owned, but relocated.

There's several bars opposite and around the new ground - use them ! As much as I loved my grandparents they aren't coming back and Everton FC no longer play at Goodison.

From where I am sat it seems a lot of the noise starts from the upper. That or the lower is really quiet when they start singing.

We have to remember Goodison was not the bouncing place people think it was. The Southampton game was for obvious reasons, likewise the derby. Against Utd/Newcastle probably was decent. Other than that it's the goals that took the noise up, once we were leading out comes the song book.

I was in the Lower Gwladys for years and when it was good it was very good but when it was crap it was just that. In the Lower South now and the atmosphere hadn't really impressed me that much until Villa the other day when Digne was down and a rendition of Spirit of the Blues got going. That was LOUD and hopefully a sign of things to come. One thing I have noticed though is I could never hear the away support at Goodison from the Gwladys. Its loud and clear at Bramley Moore.

The club's faced toward commerce now.

They have real fans waiting hours to get through a gate into the stadium due to 'technical' difficulties, and are prepared to see huge amounts of seats empty because they dont have the will to fix ticketing problems of their own making, but they give this parasite a VIP lane and a day out in a lounge they're trying to sell to tourists and businesses.

Where are these huge amounts of empty seats? Attendance at Villa was over 52,000. Maybe a few seat unique seats empty, but i understand this is a seat unique issue not Evertons. Everton already have the money for the seats in the kitty and I guess Seat Unique working out there pricing strategy.

Loads were empty. Everyone saw it. And if they're empty they're empty aren't they?

My point is the 600 empty seats (against villa) really isn't a 'huge' number. There was at least 200 seats empty at the last game at goodison and that had massive demand and was sold out. It's just the way it is, some folk don't turn up. Just because at goodison they were more dispersed around the ground you could not easily see the empty ones.
Now with these expensive premium tickets they are batched together so when they don't sell a few hundred you can see it more clearly. It's not 'huge numbers' though it's all pretty standard.

It’s all about opinions I suppose, and whilst that’s a lovely sentiment I disagree. People’s livelihoods are always affected by external factors beyond our controls. That’s just life.

For example the city centre eateries and sandwich shops that suffered once lock down occurred. A lot of them would have been reliant on the furlough initially during Covid but since a lot of business have operated a hybrid working model, some will have survived and some will have fallen by the wayside (and Covid only took four months to happen….publicans have known about this move for three or four years so they could have planned) - what was to stop them setting up a new pub near to the ground?

I get your view if the government had done something - there would have been a moral imperative then but asking a larger business to sort out smaller satellite business is not appropriate. The club does a lot for L4. Sorting the pubs relocation in my opinion should not have been one of them.

They didn't have to put the wall in, or they could have put a temporary wall in that could easily be changed for seats. The wall has meant that the upper will be sat and that's not what you want to get the most out of the stand more often.

Like I said it's not the clubs issue. Not sure they care if seat unique are not selling seats they have already paid Everton FC for.
It's like saying it's an Everton FC issue if a season ticket holders decides to not turn up and leave their seat empty....

No I get it, bit of a pipe dream but I do think maybe Everton could of reached out and helped a bit but it’s not upto Everton to sort out pubs and bars that will of made a bomb for years on the back of Goodison being there.

Does anyone know if a museum is planned? If not I think it is a big opportunity missed. The Dr David France collection alone would bring not just supporters in but tourists and football enthusiasts from all over. It would also add to the use of bars, restaurants and the Everton shop on none matchdays
