2025/26 Beto

Ive asked this a number of times in this thread, perhaps it should be a new thread, but what do people actually want or expect from Everton this year? Because going from struggling to mid table to thinking about Europe is a hell of a nice bit of forward momentum.

Beto under Moyes has a goal scoring record befitting that standing. Do I want a 1 in 2 striker? Of course. Do I want to aim for Champions League and a cup win? Absolutely. Beto probably isn't that man. But its going to take time. So stop pissing your bed sheets and start being realistic. You're the same fan base that said Chris Wood wasn't good enough to come here.
Chris Wood isnt good enough and neither is Beto.

Thats as real as I get it for you.

Its fine that you think differently, but that wont sway my opinion, not a single bit.

Long term of course, if the goal is to he the powerhouse we were in the 80s. This season though, he's fine.
Ideally, I would like a Striker who doesnt fall over his own feet.

So for me, hes not fine, im not here to dig the fella out, hes our Striker this season, so I will get off his back, but telling people to accept reality and then telling them Beto is fine is a bit rich for my taste.

But again, if we splurge out on a 50mil striker, do we get Grealish? Do you think a 50mil forward wants to join us or sit on Chelseas bench?

We've prioritized a frankly awful midfield and winger situation this summer and it'll take time. Beto showed enough under Moyes that he can do a job this season.

There is only one clear player head and shoulders above the rest, and I didn't realise the most consistent scorer was a leeds player in this 4 year window.

Yakubu type talents are something of a rarity.

I feel like the number of quality strikers has dropped. There’s Haaland out on his own and then Isak but after that you’re into what I would call very functional strikers like Watkins Delap Gyokeres and Wood who will get goals but are they really top strikers?

I remember a very average Chelsea team that had Gudjohnsen and Hasselbaink upfront. They’d both be held up as absolute geniuses if they were playing in this league. Yakubu would have teams falling over themselves to buy him. Berbatov and Keane at Spurs, how much for that pair now? Owen and Fowler? Shearer and Ferdinand. These weren’t even the players at the top teams either, they were a rung below the likes of Henry, Bergkamp Rooney, Van Nistlerooy.

Swans and Leeds, but yeah, surprising.

Pep has ruined footy as we knew it.

Thank you for speaking sense. People constantly saying 'we need a proven goalscorer right now!' and it's like...for what? All the trophies we're competing for this season?

We did the smart thing for once which was instead buy a young striker with a high ceiling who can contribute enough now but can grow into a Europa League quality striker in a couple years (round about the time we should need one ideally).
