2025/26 David Moyes

Next week is the acid test for him. There’s simply no reason to be fearful of them. If I watch a game where we can barely get the ball, barely have a chance, and end up gifting a couple of goals away for their easiest three points of the season it will be very annoying as nothing will have changed. There’s enough talent in Grealish KDH Ndiaye Dibling Alcaraz to cause that porous back line problems going the other way.

Happy to be corrected here, but, if I'm not mistaken, prior to our win against Brighton last month, the last time Everton ended a game week in the top half of the Premier League table was way back in the 2020/2021 season. The common denominator in all of those seasons have been really slow starts to the season, leaving us playing catch up from day 1.

7 points from 4 games is a good start for any club who don't have ambitions of winning the league. It's frustrating that we couldn't get the win (which we deserved) on Saturday which would have been a great start, but I'm more than content with where we're at right now.

Given our state of flux as a club, our first 4 games are probably a bit of a microcosm of how our season is going to go... some shocking performances (Leeds), some decent performances where which could have gone either way (Brighton) and some where we lack the quality to get over the line (Villa).

think saturday was our best performance under him at home since he’s come back.

play like that against lesser sides than Villa (which is most of the league) and against lesser goalkeepers (which is Donnaruma and Alisson) and we are hammering them

frustrating not to win but performance was great, atmosphere good, and no defeat or goal conceded at BMD

I’m confident for Saturday, i think we can hurt them

Judging by the Villa game though we are much closer than I thought to where we need to be. There looks to be actual depth in the center and attacking options in the starting lineup and on the bench. We will without a doubt need to fix the fullback problem at some point and find an alternative to KDH to rotate in certain games, but there is something to work with and we don't even have Branners healthy who is one of our top players. Next week could break the illusion though. Time to see if we have broken out of the plucky little Everton phase.

Who would’ve had Iraola or Glasner over David?
I'd leave him in the jobs for the next 3 seasons.

Since Moyes left the first time we've been through every style of manager imaginable from The Great Ancelotti to your "philosophy managers" right through to the other end of the spectrum with The Count of Monty Bisto and Gravel Gob and none of them have ever clicked like Moyes has.

How about we just leave him for the time being to right a ship that's been through an almighty storm and come out on the other side.

Am not quite ready to go back to having sleepless nights over so some bluff fashionista making Micheal Keane play out from the back.
