Match Thread Liverpool V Everton 20th September 12:30

This is a really interesting match for me, not because of the end result, we all know PGMOL will make sure the RS win, but in how Moyes approaches it. Is this really a more confident Moyes Mk2 who will actually try and take the game by the scruff of the neck and try and win it, or will this be what we saw in Moyes' first tenure against the Scab clubs away from home, safety first then ultimately having our bellies scratched?
Going by how he sent us out to newly promoted Leeds first game of the season, I`d imagine he`s going out with the message don`t give anything away for 89 minutes and after that hold onto that point. He certainly won`t be sending us out confident we can beat them, as was the way we went to the pit, United, Arsenal and Chelsea throughout his first spell.

I’d look to play Dibling here as well. He played well for Southampton against that lot twice and has no qualms in getting the ball and running at them. If it’s 0-0 into the 2nd half I’d throw him in as he’d peg them back no question. Alcaraz similarly would give them something different to think about later in the game.

Well the best guide was surely the two games he's already managed v them since he returned? Very positive start at Goodison before they slowly took control but there wasn't a huge amount in it and brilliant ending.

Then away Beto had chances, just couldn't take any of them so that is the limited nature of trying to challenge for europe as the CF options aren't currently good enough to take limited chances against top end teams to get draws and the odd win.
Yeah, maybe. I get the feeling that last season, with the Frankenstein team composed of Dyche, Lampard, Benitez and Ancelotti players he might of viewed it as a free hit. This season it's very much a David Moyes team and with higher expectations from the fans, Moyes himself has said Europe should be the aim, so I think it is more of a barometer.

Outside chance we could get something at the weekend. Moyes needs to show no fear and set us up to compete toe to toe with them - they are vulnerable. Not saying play an open game as they can tear us open but have belief in our ability to cause them problems, rather than sit back and hope for a chance

That's my fear but Leeds was the first game of the season with a very patched up team so I'm hoping that that was just an outlier, we didn't set up that way away at Wolves, for example.
