Match Thread Liverpool V Everton 20th September 12:30

A full mutant crowd on a Saturday lunchtime baying for blood, match officials making sure they get a win every week somehow, stacks of additional time when they aren’t winning.

You know the drill.

Refs will have strict instructions. They do not want an upset on prime time tv. The game will just be controlled by refereeing decisions as most are now. We’ll get a yellow the first tackle we do, they’ll be allowed to physically assault who they want unpunished. We’ll have racked up about 4 yellow cards by halftime for nothing.

Every corner will be pored over looking for some contact. I still remember both goals from the 2-2 at Goodison requiring extensive VAR checks, was Beto offside, was it even a free kick, perhaps there’s a foul before the free kick is given, maybe someone else is pushing during the free kick ahh ffs no we’ll have to give that one. Then the Tarkwoski one, surely it’s offside, ah no it isn’t, let’s take it all the way back to Pickford starting possession off and analyse every single interaction for a possible foul.

It was absolutely embarrassing. Goals against them aren’t just given any more, everyone is subject to a forensic microscope.

Oh yeah, a Supreme Court decision has to be made if they have a goal ruled out, or a ref is hounded out of the game after the Kopite Gestapo have scoured the internet to find (or plant) some evidence against him.

This is a really interesting match for me, not because of the end result, we all know PGMOL will make sure the RS win, but in how Moyes approaches it. Is this really a more confident Moyes Mk2 who will actually try and take the game by the scruff of the neck and try and win it, or will this be what we saw in Moyes' first tenure against the Scab clubs away from home, safety first then ultimately having our bellies scratched?

Just got to be positive.

In fairness the last couple of occasions at the swamp the first halves have been good. 0-0s and some chances to score. Then they score and realistically it is game over.

Really need Myko to get a good week of training in as even though he's been passable at LB this is type of opponent who'll really expose Garner in that position.

Saw Macalister got a bad tackle yesterday and had to go out at half time, they're always a poorer team in midfield without him as he can control and mix it in these games, top player.

I think a narrow 2-1 defeat at this point as Isak will probably get minutes for them in the CL and so he might be in contention to start.

Cannot see us getting a result, we are lacking a quality striker to convert the many chances we have created. I arrive in Salou early morning of the match so would love a result to enjoy my holiday more but if I am being honest I cannot see it. Will be the usually Horrendous Var decisions, Sending off, penalty etc etc ...You all know the script !!

Well the best guide was surely the two games he's already managed v them since he returned? Very positive start at Goodison before they slowly took control but there wasn't a huge amount in it and brilliant ending.

Then away Beto had chances, just couldn't take any of them so that is the limited nature of trying to challenge for europe as the CF options aren't currently good enough to take limited chances against top end teams to get draws and the odd win.

Can see us being set up defensive with the occasional out ball but will be difficult to keep them at bay. Got to really make it difficult for them at the back. We put in some very good crosses against Villa, let's go with that again.
